Can’t-Miss Music Festivals of Summer 2022

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

If you’re anything like me, this summer you’re looking to relax, destress and make some memories. What better way is there to do that than to listen to your favorite artists perform live? This week I’m giving you my top five can’t miss music festivals of the summer across the U.S. No matter your interests, there is something out there for everyone, so let’s dive in!

1) Stagecoach festival

Located annually at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, Stagecoach is a music festival showcasing the talents of country music stars. This year the festival is set to take place early in the summer from April 29 to May 1 and will include performances by headliners Thomas Rett, Carrie Underwood and Luke Combs. The festival will also have attractions such as a ferris wheel, an appearance by the Compton Cowboys and Guy Fieri’s Stagecoach Smokehouse where you can stop by and say hi to Guy himself! For more details about this festival, you can visit the Stagecoach website above.

2) Summerfest

This year in Milwaukee, WI there will be a music festival called Summerfest, taking place in three parts. First, from June 23-25, performers will include Justin Bieber and Jaden, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and the Wu-Tang Clan. In the next time frame of June 30-July 2, performers will include Machine Gun Kelly and Halsey. And, finally, from July 7- July 9, appearances will be made by Rod Stewart, The Backstreet Boys and Thomas Rhett. Apart from the music aspect of Summerfest, there will also be a marketplace for festival-goers to purchase merch from their favorite artists, as well as several food and beverage vendors to help you refuel and re-energize. 3) The governors ball

This annual festival is located in New York City. In the past, the event has taken place at Randall’s Island and at Governors Island. This year the event is set to take place on Friday, June 10 through Sunday, June 12 at Citi Field. From 11:45 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. each day, the audience will get to see this year’s headliners, Kid Cudi, Halsey and J.Cole, as well as other artists including Louis the Child, Beabadoobeee, Roddy Rich, Still Woozy and many more. For more information on this fest, you can go to The Governors Ball information page where you will find everything from ticket info to how the festival will run once you’ve secured a ticket.

4) Hangout music festival

This year from May 20 through May 22, the Hangout Music Festival will take place on the beaches of Gulf Shores, AL. On day one headliners include Post Malone, Fall Out Boy and Zedd. Day two will have Halsey, Doja Cat and Leon Bridges, and day three will showcase the talents of Tame Impala, Megan Thee Stallion, Phoebe Bridgers and Louis The Child. Activities include a roller disco arena where festival-goers can skate to their favorite songs, a psychedelic bus decked out for only the best photoshoots, and a tropical spa to relax at while you wait for your favorite artists to perform. Hangout also includes a wedding chapel where people can reserve a spot to legitimately get married at the festival! Sounds like an unforgettable experience to me.

5) Forecastle

Forecastle Festival will take place this year from May 27-29 at Waterfront Park in Louisville, KY. On the first day, notable performers will include Jack Harlow, Porter Robinson, Clairo, Still Woozy and Coin. The second day will be filled with performances by Tame Impala, Phoebe Bridgers, 6lack and Princess Nokia, and the third day will feature the appearances of Tyler, The Creator, Jai Wolf, Dayglow and Oliver Tree. In between sets, there are art shows to walk through, carnival rides to go on and the Forecastle Bourbon Lodge where you can stop to indulge in some of Kentucky’s famous bourbons.

If this hasn’t gotten you excited for summer, I don’t know what will. Grab your tickets now and make some memories this summer that will last a lifetime!

Hi everyone! I'm Julia and I am a sophomore student this spring at FSU. I am an English (Editing, Writing, and Media) major, and I couldn't be more excited for you to read my articles! To get to know me better, I am from Connecticut, I have a dog who's a Pugapoo (pug and poodle), and my favorite music choice is pop-punk or 90's rock. I hope you enjoy my thoughts. Happy browsing!
