With summer right around the corner, most of us have started to plan what we’re going to do: whether this is study abroad, head home to work or stay at Florida State for summer classes. On our treks back home, most students must take I-10 for a duration of their journey. However, what most people don’t realize, is how far I-10 truly goes.
For my summer plans, I will be taking a road trip staying solely on I-10: from Jacksonville to Los Angeles. If you and some friends are planning a fun-filled road trip, here are some of the stops you could make along I-10!
Tallahassee:
While this one doesn’t include very many new activities, you have to start somewhere.
New Orleans:
Known for Bourbon Street and beignets, NOLA offers plenty of new adventures. Make sure you stop at Café du Monde for an authentic taste of New Orleans. The café has been open since 1862!

San Antonio:
Having been in San Antonio before led me to fall in love with this city. The River Walk makes for a perfect date night with endless restaurants surrounding the flowing water. If you want to avoid the big city, San Antonio will help you get in touch with nature. The city also has the Natural Bridge Caverns where underground tours and canopy adventures are offered.

Phoenix:
Like most parts of Arizona, Phoenix has beautiful state parks and outdoor activities. Included in this, the Desert Botanical Garden is a must see. Reviews rave about the gorgeous colors and lively plants. For all cacti lovers, this is the place for you!

Los Angeles:
My, oh my, where to begin with the possibilities LA has to offer? Once you’ve made it to the west coast, the trip has just begun! Whether you’re more of a beach or city person, SoCal has something for you. Stroll through the Hollywood Walk of Fame or take a surfing lesson with friends! Make sure to make this a few days stop because there is just so much to do

While these are some of the main stops along the way, I-10 has so many cities to offer. With each new city, an adventure awaits. So, when the stress of the semester ends, take the time for you and friends! Hop in the car and just drive.
