The North Florida Fair Celebrated Its 75th Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

With pleasant weather conditions and cute Instagram posts, it can only mean one thing: The North Florida Fair has kicked off! The North Florida Fair ran from Nov. 3 until Nov. 13, and brought fun and joy to all fair-goers who came out.

This year marked the 75th annual North Florida Fair. To celebrate, the entrance on Thursday was only $0.75! Upon entrance, you were greeted with a giant Ferris wheel, guaranteed to give you a view of Tallahassee unlike one you’ve ever seen before. If heights aren’t your thing, then there were more relaxed rides for you to enjoy. Typical of any fair, there were also tons of rides that spin you around and take you upside down.

If you wanted some fuzzy love in your life, the fair included a petting zoo filled with everything from zebras to Yaks, llamas and lots of goats. The fair even offered carrots for you to feed the animals for only $1, which is a unique experience! If pig racing sounds like your thing, they also had that covered. Also new to the fair this year was the return of the circus, which consisted of jugglers and other talented performers.

Now, for the part that really matters: FAIR FOOD. The North Florida Fair carried all of the classics; funnel cakes, kernel corn and cotton candy. These are the oldies but the goodies. Then, we got to the incredibly unhealthy but irresistible options. Let’s be honest, the best fair food has to be the deep fried kind. Lucky for us, there was a kiosk that deep fried literally anything. Part of their menu included the option to eat a deep fried Twix, Snickers and the classic, Oreos. However, the main food attraction this year was the ice cream. The vendor Polar Bear Homemade Ice Cream had over 325 different flavors; some old, some new and some plain interesting. They had a kettlecorn ice cream that also contains salty caramel; so good that you cannot even resist it in the winter.

We hope you had a chance to experience the rides, animals and delicious eats at the North Florida fair this year! It was a wonderful celebration for a momentous anniversary.
