On Oct. 24, Taylor Swift made her first late-night talk show appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, since the release of Midnights, her long-awaited tenth studio album, which was released on Oct. 21.

The album features songs detailing her 13 sleepless nights throughout her life. Midnights broke records, becoming Spotify’s most streamed album in a day. The album is mostly co-produced by Jack Antonoff, who Swift has previously worked with on her previous albums, such as Folklore and Evermore.

Fans are already deeply analyzing the lyrics of Midnights and trying to figure out which events and people are involved in the causes of these so-called “sleepless nights.”

When Fallon mentioned the fact that Swift hasn’t toured in four years, Swift made a face, almost seeming surprised by the fact. She then answered, “I think I should do it. When it’s time, we’ll do it. I miss it.” This is the first time Swift herself has made any official comments or hints at the possibility of touring again. Anonymous tips on gossip-centered social media accounts have stated to have inside knowledge that Swift has booked numerous major stadiums for 2023, however, this is just a rumor and not an official or proven fact.

Swift’s fans, who call themselves “Swifties” have been eager for Swift to tour again. Between her Lover stadium shows being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and being busy releasing two albums, Folklore and Evermore, along with releasing Red (Taylor’s Version) which features new songs, Swift hasn’t been radio silent.

In addition to discussing her four-year touring hiatus, Swift and Fallon discussed the creative process behind the album, as well as playing some games on live television. Swift, known for her love of cats, tried to name as many cat breeds as she could in 30 seconds, and was able to name a whooping 24 cat breeds. Swift also shed light on her inspiration behind casting Mike Birbiglia for her “Anti-Hero” music video.

Swift is known for her “Easter eggs” which are subtle hints she leaves in social media posts, lyrics, music videos and through many other modes to allude to announcements. Until recently, Swift never acknowledged the strategic placement of her infamous Easter eggs. On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Swift stated, “I think we’ve just stopped pretending it’s accidental at this point,” referring to the Easter eggs. Swift also revealed that her newest music video for the song, “Bejeweled”, contains “a psychotic amount” of these Easter eggs. Some fans have taken these Easter eggs to mean that Speak Now, Swift’s third studio album, is going to be the next recording Swift will release. Some of the Easter eggs that fans have spotted include Swift wearing a bedazzled hair clip featuring the letters “S” and “N”, which many believe stands for “Speak Now.” The music video was star-stubbed, featuring appearances from HAIM, Jack Antonoff, Laura Dern, Dita Von Deese and Pat McGrath.

Midnights is now streaming on all major music streaming platforms. As of now, there are two music videos released for the album for songs “Anti-Hero” and “Bejeweled.” You can find them here on Swift’s YouTube channel.
