This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

As the holiday season approaches, Netflix and Disney+ have released a plethora of Christmas movies that will get everyone in the Christmas spirit. In addition, Netflix has announced a couple of movies coming soon in December, including The Knight Before Christmas starring Vanessa Hudgens and a third part to The Christmas Prince. The following movies listed have their own directed audience and differences, but they all share the Christmas vibes everyone is hoping for in a Holiday film.

Based on a popular YA (Young Adult) novel written by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle, Let It Snow tells the story of different teenagers dealing with their own problems the day before Christmas. Some may describe it as a teenage version of Love Actually. The movie stars Kiernan Shipka from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Jacob Batalon from Marvel’s new Spider-Man series, Mitchell Hope from the Descendants series, and many more. In the film, many can expect humor, romance, winter scenery, a catchy playlist, and family and friendship dynamics. Netflix released Let It Snow on Nov. 8 and although it may be early, this movie brings all the Christmas feels to the screen.

On Nov. 12, the long-awaited Disney+ launched. Along with the return of childhood favorites such as That’s So RavenThe Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Hannah Montana, new movies and shows made their debut. One of these was Noelle, starring Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader. This movie follows the story of Noelle and her brother, Nick. As the Christmas season is arriving, Nick must take the new role of Santa Claus, but is overly pressured and goes MIA. Noelle makes it her mission to find her brother in hopes he’ll be ready for Christmas Eve. In an interview with USA Today, Kendrick talked about how Noelle is more than a Christmas movie. She explained, “Obviously I think it’s about the season and it’s about what really matters at this time of year, which most Christmas movies are, because it’s a lovely message, and I think it’s really great that it has this girl power twist on it, too.”

It’s no secret Netflix has its fair share of Christmas films. In 2017, Netflix released A Christmas Prince. The story follows an American journalist who is sent to get the inside scoop on a prince who’s meant to be king, and through all obstacles, they end up falling in love. The movie received a great amount of attention and praise, which led to a sequel in 2018 about their royal wedding on Christmas Day. Recently, Netflix announced the upcoming release of a third movie that will follow the birth of their first child. A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby will release on Dec. 5 on Netflix and many fans of the film series are excited to be a part of Christmas in Aldovia once again.

Vanessa Hudgens is back for another Netflix holiday film. In 2018, she starred in The Princess Switch and now she will star in The Knight Before Christmas. In this movie, a medieval knight is transported to present day during the holiday season and falls in love for a high school teacher, played by Hudgens, who’s a hopeless romantic. In an interview with POPSUGAR, Hudgens talked about her excitement for the film. She stated, “I was really excited by the idea of being a staple in people’s home[s] for the holidays. If I can be a part of bringing families together at a time that can be difficult and allow them a little escapism or inspiration, I think that’s just a wonderful and beautiful thing to be.” Be sure to check out the film when it releases on Nov. 21 on Netflix.
