Never Dull Your Sparkle: Local Tallahassee Boutique Sparkle by Madison

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Scattered around the Florida State campus are wonderful local stores for students to shop in. Midtown Tallahassee is a part of the city that is not too far from campus and is lined with cute shops and restaurants alike. A delicious brunch spot, the Front Porch, is nestled underneath hanging canopy trees and The Brass Tap is not too far down the road for a mid-day break drinking a myriad of beers and wines. The food in this area is great-but let’s not forget about the shopping.

College girls are always trying to spend as little as they can on clothing. Looking good should not mean sacrificing a meal out with friends! A typical boutique can sell clothes and accessories for upwards of $100. Spending $50 on one thing is not shopping on a budget. Stores find super trendy things to sell for high prices, but that just does not work for most college girls. The adorable boutique Sparkle by Madison is located right in Midtown on Thomasville Road and everything is under $35. Under thirty-five dollars!

The shop began as a high school project for owner Madison Setliff. When she was just fifteen years old, Madison came up with a graphic logo design for class that looks similar to the one used for the store today. Five years later and she is the proud owner of Sparkle by Madison, a boutique with southern charm and Tallahassee roots. What once started out as a shop in her own home has turned into a business venture for the Tallahassee native. She hopes to open up more Sparkle by Madison stores in the future to give more people the ability to shop in her delightful and budget friendly shop.

Game day necessities like garnet and gold dresses, headbands and comfy shoes are some things that girls search for as the fall football season kicks in. The amount of game day jewelry that is under $30 provides a great variety for all girls to choose from. Everything from dainty gold “Go Noles” necklaces to chunky statement bangles are constantly found in the store. The window display includes a white and gold feather top for $20. The shop includes items for all seasons, with airy pastel prints in the Spring and rich browns for the Fall. The shop not only has clothes for college girls but for young children, too. The store is very inviting with its extensive space and there is a special room in the back for items that are on sale. Currently a $5 sale is going on right now, with everything in the back room selling for that low price; items such as shoes, headbands, going-out dresses and comfy t-shirts are hanging on the racks. Another perk of this local shop is the fact that they carry plus sizes! They are always updating their social media outlets so follow along on Instagram or on Facebook.

The hours of operation are from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Saturday.

The address is 1108 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303.
