My Favorite Looks From London Fashion Week!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

As fashion show season is coming to a close, London Fashion Week was a chance for designers to exhibit their newest Women’s Autumn/Winter 2020 collections. Designers such as Burberry, Victoria Beckham, Christopher Kane and more gave us some unforgettable pieces. Let’s take a look at some of my favorites!

Burberry

Burberry is a London classic, with its famed print and chic style. This collection, titled ‘Memories’, represented the brand very well. Riccardo Tisci, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, was inspired by cities he’s seen during his travels and the history of the brand for this collection. Many of the pieces that we saw were quite oversized, which seems to be an ongoing trend in fashion these days. The model line-up was of the best, including Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Irina Shayk. My favorite look from this collection was a pair of checkered pants paired with a silk, beige blouse. A statement belt was added, creating a focal point for the outfit. Layered on top, an oversized beige coat with a matching scarf.

Erdem

Erdem’s collection was inspired by the glamour of the last century. Merging the past and the present, we saw satin silhouettes, embroidery, lace and puff sleeves. My favorite look from this collection was a silver embroidered dress with a transparent background. The romantic silver floral pattern combined with the sexy transparency is a prime example of the overall theme of the collection. Paired with this dress was a large black feather headpiece and black shoes.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham is known for her chic and simple style, and she does a fabulous job at transforming that into collections that are always a hit. This season, she created a collection of everything you need in your wardrobe–sweaters, blouses, little black dresses–pieces for the 21st-century power-woman. My favorite look included a long, bishop-sleeve white blouse and a corduroy brown skirt. Paired with these pieces was a silver and brown belt and some beige, knee-high boots.

Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane was inspired by the Garden of Eden for this collection. However, it was the dark side of the story that sparked his creativity, focusing on the passion of the couple that led them to do the forbidden. Because of this, we see a lot of dark colors and prints, specifically with triangles. My favorite look from this collection featured a lace top that comprised of three triangles, following the theme. It was accompanied by a satin, brown skirt that went down to the knees. To complete the look, some tall, brown boots were added.

JW Anderson

Jonathan Anderson is brilliant at taking classic styles and adding his own touch to make them feel new and fresh. Sweater dresses, coats, and pant suits are all examples that we saw in this collection. My favorite look from this collection was a simple, black tuxedo dress. I believe that the cut of the dress is so flattering, and it is different than most tuxedo dresses we normally see. Paired with this dress were some brown fur flats.

That’s all for my favorite looks from London Fashion Week 2020!
