Move Over Netflix: 5 Things to Do for Valentine’s Day in Tallahassee

Valentine’s Day has arrived! It is a polarizing holiday, most people either love it or hate it. However, regardless of your relationship status. there are plenty, of events to attend in Tallahassee to celebrate the holiday.

1. Mimosas, Waffles and Trivia at Madison Social

Madison Social is a staple at FSU and is known for its monthly challenges and Trivia Tuesdays. The bar will not disappoint this Valentine’s Day as it celebrates Galentine’s Day on Feb. 13. Going with the theme of Parks and Rec, ladies will be able to celebrate other ladies over waffles, whipped cream and mimosas from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.Later that night, there with be Parks and Rec trivia starting at 7 p.m.

2. Couple Sets at Painting With a Twist

Painting with a Twist provides a unique date night experience. On Valentine’s Day, couples will be able to paint a portrait over two separate canvases. Once the canvases have been completed they can place them side by side to create a whole painting. Couples can also bring their favorite snacks and drinks along with them (alcohol included) to create a memorable Valentine’s Day celebration. There are two separate Painting with a Twist locations in Tallahassee and each location is painting different portraits. Reservations can be made at the Monroe location, where the painting will be an In Love set. Or couples can choose between two painting options at the Bannerman Crossing location. There will be a Love Ripple Set option and a Van Gogh Tree option for painters to choose from.

3. Chick-fil-A’s Valentine’s Day Deals

West Tennessee’s Chick-fil-A is giving away a free tray of nuggets to customers that buy two large drinks and two large fries on Valentine’s Day. If you’re looking to take someone out, but you’re also balling on a budget (because college is expensive), Chick-fil-A is providing a cheap date option. Honestly, you don’t even have to be on a date to relish in this deal—split a tray of nuggets with your best friend while watching movies. You could even splurge on dessert. Chocolate chip cookies are BOGO on this day as well. The deal for nuggets will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and then again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Here’s a link to the Facebook event.

4. Anti-Valentine’s Day

Tenn Nightclub is hosting an Anti-Valentine’s Day night. The first 50 singles will receive free admission and musicians include Crowell and Codd Dubz. If you’re interested in partying away Valentine’s Day, this could be the event for you. For more information, check out the Facebook event page.

5. A Classic: The Movies

You can never go wrong with seeing a movie on Valentine’s Day. Fifty Shades Freed, the final installment of the Fifty Shades franchise made its debut just in time for Valentine’s Day. Forever My Girl and The Shape of Water are also in theaters. If none of those are your speed, The Maze Runner: Death Cure and The Post are also in theaters.

Valentine’s Day can be a doozy, but it all depends on outlook. Remember that there are many types of love that we experience throughout life. Enjoy the day, whether you are with your significant other or with your girl gang! Look at the bright side, there will be plenty of discounted chocolate in stores on Feb. 15!
