Meet Sydney Moore, Your One-Stop-Shop for Unique Game Day Apparel

Ever wondered where everyone’s ridiculously cute game day outfits originated? Us too, until we came across Sydney Moore’s game day fashion Instagram account, “moore_decals.” Moore creates affordable, customized Florida State-themed pieces that are sure to slay any tailgate you roll up to with the squad, and we got the chance to sit down with Sydney to get to know her and her brand a little better!

Name: Sydney Moore

Age: 20 years old

Year: Junior

Major: Management Information System (MIS)

Hometown: Parkland, FL

Her Campus (HC): Moore Decals could entail a lot of different things. Can you tell us what kind of products you offer on Moore Decals?

Sydney Moore (SM): The products that I offer include sports bras, game day tube tops, sweatshirts, and other general apparel that are all completely customizable.

HC: All things that are very on trend, clearly. Where did you get the idea to start your small business?

SM: I started Moore Decals as a hobby with my mom, actually. We purchased a machine that allows you to cut vinyl, the material I use to make the products, and we started making stickers to stick on computers and cups. Soon, we decided to take it to the next level by making t-shirts. When people started coming up to me asking about my shirts and if I could make them some, my mom and I realized we could really start our own t-shirt business.

HC: With that said, what style are you shooting for when you create your clothing, stickers, and decals?

SM: The styles I typically shoot for when creating my products are modern and creative, things that people don’t see anywhere and everywhere. Taking inspiration from pop culture, for example, the “Astroworld” album recently came out, so some of my products have featured a similar font from the album cover. I really try to think outside the box because I want my products to stand up; I design for my market of customers, college and high school students, while my mom designs for her market of customers, teachers and parents.

HC: Where do you get the inspiration for your pieces?

SM: I typically look for inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram. I also pay attention to what other girls are wearing for game days and I try to put my own twist on them!

HC: Do you have a favorite piece that you’ve made so far?

SM: My favorite piece that I’ve made so far are my sports bras. They have “STATE” written across them, but I changed the “A” to an outline of Florida with “Noles” written along the side. It’s a huge hit and I think it’s been my most creative design so far.

HC: Where do you hope to take your business in the future?

SM: I hope that I always have my company, but for now I like where it is now. I get orders for shirts and then I make them to be as cost-efficient as possible. Also, it can become hard to keep up with when there are more than ten t-shirts to make each week. Soon, we’d like to switch into printing instead of vinyl to make it even more efficient for us and our loyal customers.

HC: Where can your products be bought?

SM: My products are all available through my Facebook Page, Moore Decals, and also my Instagram, Moore_Decals. In the end, I loved that I created a business that I truly enjoy. I like being my own boss and seeing my products on other people in person and on social media.
