Meet the Queens of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 11

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Set to premiere Feb. 28, season 11 of RuPaul’s Drag Race is anticipated to be the most jaw-dropping yet. With guest judges like Miley Cyrus, Troye Sivan, Gina Rodriguez and Cara Delevingne, we’re in for a star-studded season. Here are the 15 queens who are taking season 11 by storm:

1. Vanessa Vanjie Mateo

Does this queen look familiar? That’s probably because you know her as “MISS VAAAAAAAAANJIE!” Eliminated on day one of season 10, she is back with a vengeance! In her year-long hiatus, she had an amazing glo-up and became a viral internet meme. We’re absolutely living for this come-back and can’t wait to see what we missed out on last season.

2. A’keria Davenport

This Dallas pageant queen comes to us from the house of Davenport. Other famous members of her drag family include season 7’s Kennedy Davenport and season 2’s Sahara Davenport. But what’s even crazier? She isn’t the only Davenport on season 11…

3. Honey Davenport

House Davenport strikes again! For the first time in drag race her-story, two members of the same drag family will be going head to head for the crown. But to add to the craziness of Honey’s family tree, she is also the drag mother to recent All-Stars 4 winner Monét X Change! Looks like Honey has some pretty good genes!

4. Brooke Lynn Hytes

Also making drag race her-story is RPDR’s first ever Canadian queen! Miss Brooke Lynn Hytes comes to us with a professional dance background, years of drag experience, the title of 2014 Miss Continental and stunning lips-sync capabilities. This fierce competitor is one to look out for.

5. Ariel Versace

A true social media queen, Ariel Versace has one of the largest fan-bases this season. With a growing following on YouTube and over 170,000 followers on Instagram, this queen has a pretty huge support system, to say the least. Hopefully, Ru and the judges love her just as much!

6. Plastique Tiara

With almost 400,000 followers on Instagram, this queen is a social butterfly! Only 21 years old when she auditioned, Plastique is the season’s youngest queen and one of the youngest ever on the show. But don’t underestimate her; she’s here to slay. Just ask her drag mother, Alyssa Edwards!

7. Ra’jah O’Hara

This pageant queen is best known for her dancing capabilities and body-ody-ody! This Dallas legend is ready to snatch the crown just as she did with the Miss Texas FFI competition (a title famously won by queens like Alyssa Edwards, Kennedy Davenport and Asia O’Hara).

8. Silky Nutmeg Ganache

Yet another fierce pageant queen, this diva is one more to look out for. She’s got outfits that turn heads and performances that leave a lasting impression. She’s known for being both beautiful and hilarious, making her some pretty fierce larger-than-life competition!

9. Soju

With almost 50,000 subscribers on YouTube, we have yet another social queen in our midst! The amazing Soju blends contemporary glam and K-Pop realness to bring a whole new style to the world of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Is it enough to snatch the crown? We can’t wait to find out.

10. Yvie Oddly

Oddly enough, this queen has a fun and eclectic style that is unlike any other girl’s this season. She blurs the lines between trashy and fashion with her intricately-crafted looks and stunning creations. Not to mention her alien energy, which we totally get a sense of in her walks, mannerisms and acrobatics!

11. Scarlet Envy

The oh-so glamourous Scarlet Envy is a Kentucky queen based out of New York City! She gives off an “Old Hollywood” aesthetic that is all her own. She’s even caught the eye of season 9 winner Sasha Velour, who cast her in a performance showcase last year. Will she live up to the hype?

12. Shuga Cain

This Californian queen is based out of New York City where she is known best for her live singing and hilarious comedy. Fun fact: as the name implies, she’s also known for having a pretty big sweet tooth and baking in her free time!

13. Kahanna Montrese

Does her last name ring any bells? You may recognize this queen from her family tree. Kahanna is the drag daughter of RPDR alum Coco Montrese! Coco never won either of her seasons (season 5 and All Stars 2), but she is definitely a household name in drag. Let’s hope Kahanna has better luck her time around!

14. Mercedes Iman Diamond

Yet another queen has made the her-story books this season! Mercedes Iman Diamond is proud to be representing as the first ever Muslim queen on RuPaul’s Drag Race. She loves to draw on cultural inspiration when creating looks and accessories, never being afraid to embrace her community.

15. Nina West

A new category of drag queen emerges with Nina West: philanthropic queen! Nina has allegedly raised over 2 million dollars for LGBTQ+ charity causes, making her one of the most philanthropic queens in the her-story of RuPaul’s Drag Race! Will her big heart snatch the crown this season?
