Her Campus (HC): You’re from Miami. What’s it like going to school so far away? How much of a culture shock did you experience when you first got to Tallahassee?

Samantha Heffernan (SH): I enjoy going to school far away, although I do get home sick sometimes. One of the biggest culture shocks coming to Tallahassee is greeting people. In Miami, we all greet each other with a kiss on the cheek, and I learned very quickly that that’s not how people outside of Miami greet each other…

HC: What do you hope to do after you graduate?

SH: I hope to work as a Public Relations agent for a sports team!

HC: You’re a big sports fan. If you could meet any one athlete, who would it be?

SH: David Ortiz, 100 percent. I’m a huge Red Sox fan, and have been a fan of Ortiz for as long as I can remember.

HC: What’s been your favorite memory here at Florida State?

SH: I have so many! But if I had to pinpoint just one, it would be the night we won the national championship – that was an experience of a lifetime.

HC: What are your favorite songs to listen to right now?

SH: Definitely the new Justin Bieber songs!

HC: What do you look for in a relationship?

SH: As cheesy as this sounds, just someone I can be myself around and laugh with.

HC: Describe your idea of a perfect date?

SH: I don’t really have an idea of a “perfect date,” as long as I’m having a good time and the conversation is good.

HC: As a senior, do you have any advice for the freshmen out there?

SH: Yes, make sure you’re taking advantage of every aspect of the college experience. School is obviously the entire reason you’re here, but also go to football games, meet new people, experience everything Florida State has to offer.

HC: In your opinion, what’s the best place to eat in Tallahassee?

SH: I’m a big seafood person so I love Barnacle Bills.

HC: What do you like to do in your free time?

SH: I love hanging out with my friends. I also love mountain biking, but I don’t get around to doing it very often in Tallahassee.

HC: What trait do you value most in other people?

SH: Honesty. I feel like that is a trait so many people lack today, so coming across an honest person is so refreshing.

HC: Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

SH: “There are only two ways to live your life. One as though nothing is a miracle. The other as though everything is a miracle.” –Albert Einstein
