Meet fellow Seminole Cutie and Marching Chief, Andrew Burk

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Sophomore Andrew Burk proves that Seminoles really can do it all. Between juggling academics and Chiefs, his dedication to his brothers of Phi Mu Alpha, and just being carefree like a college student should, Andrew surely has the Seminole spirit running through his veins.

Name: Andrew Burk

Year: Sophomore

Major: English and Political Science

Hometown: Gainesville, FL

Relationship Status: Single

HC (Her Campus): What kind of career are you hoping to obtain?

AB (Andrew Burk): I hope to audition for the FSU College of Music and become a music education major. I would like to be a band director in a middle school or high school in Florida, and eventually move on to work as an administrator or college professor.

HC: What kind of music do you like? Any current favorite songs?

AB: I love all genres of music! Country, ska, hip-hop, alternative, classical- but right now I would have to say that my favorite song is “Clarity” by Zedd.

HC: What’s your favorite part of being on the Marching Chiefs?

AB: My favorite part of being in Marching Chiefs is playing “The Hymn to the Garnet and Gold” at the end of every game. It is not our alma mater, but it is a very special song to Chiefs.

HC: What instrument do you play?

AB: I play trombone!

HC: How did you get into playing the trombone?

AB: In middle school, I joined the beginning band in 6th grade and wanted to play trumpet. I tried playing trumpet, but I could not make a sound on it. My band director tried me on trombone and it worked, and I’ve played trombone ever since.

HC: What other organizations are you involved in?

AB: I am involved in Seminole Sound (the basketball pep band) and Phi Mu Alpha, a social music fraternity.

HC: What are your weekends like?

AB: My Saturdays are spent practicing before the football game at 8 am, playing for pep bands, and then cheering on the Seminoles! My Sundays are for sleep and homework.

HC: Do you and your family have any special Thanksgiving traditions?

AB: I start Black Friday as soon as dinner is over.

HC: What are some qualities you look for in a partner?

AB: Intelligence and humor are the best qualities.

HC: Is there any kind of motto or saying you live by?

AB: Go Noles. #3hunna
