Shannon Landy, the manager of Bare Waxing Center in Tallahassee, was kind enough to let me ask her some questions about the studio, Bare Waxing Center. Her Campus (HC): Tell me what Bare Waxing Center is all about!
Shannon Landy (SL): Bare Waxing is a local, family-owned waxing center right in the heart of Tallahassee. We’ve been keeping Tallahassee smooth since 2013 and have loved every minute of it! We aim to provide the highest quality in services and truly make you feel like family. At Bare Waxing, our biggest goal is to help our clients look and feel their best!
HC: What does Bare Waxing Center stand for and believe in?
SL: From the start, our core values have always included hard work and sincerity. This means always educating ourselves in the ever-evolving wax world to ensure we’re providing the best services and, before all else, genuinely caring about our clients. We want our clients to be happy, to feel good about themselves, and to be empowered. That’s what Bare Waxing stands for.
HC: Why should Florida State students choose Bare Waxing Center?
SL: Students make up so much of the heart of Tallahassee. Between classes, work and the overall hectic-ness of college life, students already have so much to worry about. In our effort to help soothe the stressors of daily college life, we strive to provide them with the highest quality of service for the best prices. Nothing beats fresh brows when you just finished cramming for a hairy exam. Being located within walking distance to the stadium is also pretty helpful!
HC: What services do you offer?
SL: We offer full body waxing services for both men and women. This covers any and all waxing from hairline to toes! While we specialize in hard wax, we also offer soft wax and our newly added sugar waxing! We are very excited to announce that we will be offering Lash Lifting with select technicians this coming December as well!
HC: What’s your personal favorite service that you offer?
SL: 100% Brow Shaping, all day. Seeing the before and after is always great, but even better is the reaction of our clients. There is a special feeling that comes with a fresh brow wax and it gives such a confidence boost!

HC: What advice would you give to someone who’s hesitant about waxing for the first time?
SL: As simple as it sounds, just go for it! You’ll never know if you like something or not unless you try it. Just bring yourself and we’ll do the rest by giving you the best experience and quality possible
HC: What’s the best and worst part of getting waxes?
SL: Would you like the good news or the bad news first? Only joking! Most of our clients would say the worst part is that first strip, but after that it’s smooth sailing, pun intended! The best part of waxing is definitely the results! You feel clean, refreshed and ready to take on the day!
HC: What do your prices range from?
SL: Our prices range from $10.00 – $65.00 per individual service. The Full Brazilian, our most popular service, is only $40.00.
HC: Do the technicians require a certain level of experience?
SL: All of our technicians are state-certified professionals and come from all levels of experience. Once part of the Bare Waxing family, each technician is fully trained in the Bare method of waxing. This ensures quality, consistency and a uniform team.
HC: Do you offer certain deals for students or for specific occasions?
SL: Our introductory discount was created specifically with students in mind! As a new client, your first Brazilian is only $25.00. Even better, bring a friend and you’ll receive 10% off on your next service!
