As the seasons change and temperatures drop, our desire for what we expect from our perfumes may change as well. Unlike the summer months when there was a preference towards light, airy, and juicy scents to withstand the summer heat, the winter months call for a different approach. As the layers grow in the following weeks, a warm hug from our perfume wouldn’t hurt either. Below are some perfumes that might meet your seasonal needs.

Paco Rabanne: Fame

For those who have a hard time letting go of fruitful summer scents but want a suitable fragrance for the winter months, Paco Rabanne’s Fame provides the best of both worlds. There is a succulent mango opening that blends into middle notes of jasmine, patchouli, and incense. The brief fruity opening dries down to a warm woody scent with a sandalwood, benzoin, and musk base notes.

Atelier Cologne: Vanille Insensée

Vanilla lovers will go crazy for Atelier Cologne’s Vanille Insensée. The cologne is a straightforward vanilla that is creamy and sweet but not overpowering. It can be worn alone for a full vanilla experience or layered underneath other perfumes for a warm and sweet base. Atelier Cologne is no longer sold in the U.S. However, you can shop from online retailers abroad.

Tom Ford: Tobacco Vanille

Intense and warm, Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford envelops you in a warm hug that can withstand the winter cold. Notes of tonka bean, cacao, and dried fruits add depth to the warm and spicy perfume. Oh, and Harry Styles wears this perfume too. A candle version of Tobacco Vanille also exists for home fragrance enthusiasts.

Theodoros Kalotinis: Coffee Addict

For those who want to smell like they live and breathe in a coffee shop, Coffee Addict by Theodoros Kalotinis is the perfect perfume. With notes of coffee, vanilla, caramel, and cocoa, Coffee Addict is quite literally a coffee order in a bottle.

Commodity: Book Expressive

Commodity’s Book Expressive is an earthy, woody fragrance that will send you to the bookshelves of a quiet library. Ketrin Leka, the nose behind the fragrance, recalled some of her most cherished memories to help her craft the scent. Book Expressive takes her back to the New York Public Library, reminiscing in the smell of dry paper mingling with fresh air.

CLEAN: Warm Cotton

If you enjoy a warm sweater straight from the dryer, CLEAN’s Warm Cotton encapsulates that feeling in a bottle. Warm Cotton is quite literally inspired by the comforting scent of newly laundered tees. It has a fresh scent, but there’s also a warmth to it from the amber and white musk that makes the perfume comfortable for all seasons, including winter. As a simple, linear perfume, Warm Cotton can be worn on its own or layered with another perfume.

Chloe: Nomade

Elegant and earthy, Chloe’s Nomade is a great everyday scent. The opening features sweet mirabelle plum with citrus notes that sink into a lush field of freesia, jasmine, and rose. Oakmoss, sandalwood, and patchouli create a rich base which gives Nomade depth and character. Chloe’s Nomade is a warm floral perfume with earthy base notes that make for a great autumn-to-winter fragrance.

Arielle Shoshana: Monday

Instead of drinking a cup of tea, you can smell like a cozy Earl Grey with Arielle Shoshana’s Monday. The aromatic tea perfume opens with a fresh citrus burst of bergamot and lemon zest which is tamed by the smooth black tea note. Soothing lavender and notes of milk, vanilla, and sandalwood combine for a warm embrace.

Wherever you find yourself this winter, and wherever the seasons take you long after, a seasonal fragrance makes the perfect companion.
