Crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice, and the Great Talloween migration are all an integral part of fall here at Florida State. Whether you are excited for Halloween or just ready for some cooler weather, let this be a perfect time for a fall reset. Even as it’s still warm, just adding little touches of fall in your place or your routine can make sure you aren’t wasting this season.
Embracing autumnal energy in your own time can make fall feel like it’s coming faster, as campus just gets prettier every day. Follow me into the pumpkin patch, and here are four ways I bring fall to Florida!
- Dress the Part
-
While it may not seem obvious, the transition to fall can start with you. Using this seasonal shift, about halfway through the semester, as a reset is the perfect opportunity. It may not feel like fall weather here on college campuses yet, but you can dress the part!
One thing I do to try to manifest that fall energy is dress for fall, trying to make outfits for the season, of course not too many layers yet. Being intentional about the shift into fall can make you feel like the season is here.
Something that really helps me get into my autumn mindset is that I try to switch my closet right around the fall and winter seasons. Trading shorts for sweaters and sandals for boots, I at least get to wear the cute fall outfits that I have been waiting all year for.
Using this closet swap as a full reset also helps me declutter my space and use it as an opportunity to transition into the new season. Embracing fall from head to toe is just one way I bring fall to Florida!
- Drink the Part
-
Now that you’ve dressed the part, it’s time to bring that to your space!
Truly, the best part of fall is that it taps into all your senses. The infamous pumpkin spice latte (PSL) kicked off a pumpkin spice frenzy. Take a trip to Trader Joe’s, and you will already see the fall rollout, from pumpkin pasta to spooky sweets.
If you want to taste the season without leaving campus, try swapping your usual iced coffee for a maple blend at a local cafe. Grabbing a warm seasonal treat to enjoy during a study session is the perfect way to romanticize these shorter autumn days.
- Smell the Part
-
Even if you’re not a pumpkin spice fan, let’s talk about autumn scents. Scents such as honey apple scents or cinnamon are definitely a highlight of the fall. Recently, I got a cinnamon broom for my kitchen; it was life-changing.
Getting your place to smell like fall is a complete game changer, and it really lets you embrace the new season. Get a wood wick candle that crackles as it burns, or a good candle warmer if you’re in the dorms, to really set the scene and keep fall in the air all season long!
- Decorate the Part
-
The last step is to make your space feel like fall is here: set up Halloween decorations, even carve a pumpkin if you can. But keep the fall energy going inside too: cute pillows of pumpkins or ghosts and ghouls, and a big fall blanket. Cozy decor can really round out those fall vibes!
I hope these tips help you bring the fall season. Enjoy one of the best times of the year and stay safe (and spooky)!
