Kiki Layne and Gemma Chan Join the Cast of “Don’t Worry, Darling”

Well-known Hollywood director Olivia Wilde has managed to break the internet yet again. The news came out earlier this week that If Beale Street Could Talk’s Kiki Layne and Crazy Rich Asians’ Gemma Chan have now joined the cast of the upcoming, film Don’t Worry, Darling. As if we didn’t think it could get any better, we will now see Layne and Chan alongside Harry Styles, Chris Pine and Florence Pugh on the big screen. It is evident Wilde has her eyes set on having Hollywood’s best and most elite actors in this film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, not many details have been released about the film yet. However, what is known is that the movie will be a psychological thriller that is based in the 1950s in the isolated desert in California. The film is set to be full of suspense and mystery, sure to live up to the expectations that people have for a Wilde film. Not only is she an well-known actress, but she has an incredible reputation as a filmmaker as well.

Deadline Magazine stated that this film was very sought after. It was released that over 18 bidders were attempting to get the rights to produce Don’t Worry, Darling as a film. Wilde got lucky as she had access to the film with New Line, which is a production company that is under Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Additionally, the actors in this film also have some previous acting experience that makes them more than fit for the job. IMDb gives us a deeper look at their past movie experiences. Chris Pine has starred in Star Trek, Harry Styles made his acting debut in the war and action thriller Dunkirk, and Florence Pugh has starred in works like Midsommar and Lady Macbeth.

Alongside the news of the additions to the cast, fans say goodbye to Dakota Johnson, whose role will now be played by Kiki Layne. Johnson unfortunately had to exit the project as other acting commitments got in the way of shooting for this film. There is no surprise in this switch as Harry Styles also recently replaced Shia LeBeouf, who was originally confirmed for the film as well.

Although there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the film lately, there is not a confirmed release date yet. What has been confirmed is that filming is set to begin at the end of the month of October. The movie will primarily be filmed between Palm Springs and Los Angeles.

Even though little information has been revealed so far, that does not stop the excitement that is circulating about the film. The cast itself already has its fanbases, which will bring more attention to the film. These fans are committed to all of their work, so there is already a high anticipation for the film. With this elite cast and a new film being released on Wilde’s behalf, it’s only natural that Hollywood cannot keep their attention off of the potential that this film has before its release.
