Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye West have made it public that they are expecting their fourth child via surrogate.
Kim recently revealed that she and Kanye are expecting on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen along with the gender of the baby: a boy. She said this news all first came out when she mistakenly drank too much at her Christmas party last month and shared the news with a few people without thinking, but she could not recall who specifically she told because she “never drinks.”
Kim and Kanye have been married since 2014, and this will be their fourth child, they currently have a five-year-old daughter named North, a three-year-old son named Saint and another daughter named Chicago who was born last January. This new baby will mean they have an even two daughters and two sons.
This won’t be their first pregnancy using a surrogate. Kim chose this option to carry out her third child, Chicago, because she has had complications during both of her pregnancies. While having her first child, North, she suffered from preeclampsia, and during the delivery of her second child, Saint, she had a complication called a placenta accreta. She revealed on her show Keeping up with the Kardashians that the doctor told her and her husband to explore new avenues if they plan on having any more children because another delivery could be life-threatening for her.
Though the Kardashian-Wests had wonderful things to say about the surrogate they used during their last pregnancy in a blog post made by Kim, they chose a different woman to carry out the pregnancy of their fourth child. It seems they did not have the option to use their previous surrogate because she had given birth to a child of her own on Christmas Eve according to TMZ.
There’s no confirmation of an official due date, but Elle reports that Kim mentioned that he will be “coming soon” on Watch What Happens Live, where she revealed the pregnancy.
There is also some conversation going on about if Kim’s pregnancy announcement is inspiring some of her sisters to want more children sooner than they thought. Khloe Kardashian has expressed interest in more children, especially because she wants her daughter to have a sibling at some point, according to E!. Another of the Kardashian sisters, Kylie Jenner, says she and her boyfriend Travis Scott are trying for another baby according to Daily Mail.
This could potentially be the final addition to the Kardashian-West family as Kim told Cosmopolitan that four children would be the “perfect amount for her” because she doesn’t think that she would be able to handle more children than that.
