The news is here. People Magazine annually selects someone to become their #SexiestManAlive, and this year John Legend won the title. The previous record-holder, in 2018, was Idris Elba.
In his interview with People Magazine, Legend states that winning the year after Elba, “is not fair and is not nice!” Some of the winners in the years before those two include Johnny Depp, Ryan Reynolds, Channing Tatum, David Beckham, Dwayne Johnson and Blake Shelton.
What People Magazine believes is John’s way of being sexy and melting everyone’s heart is, is through his music and his family. If you know nothing about John Legend, you at least know that his voice is like no other. He is sultry and sings songs that make you want to fall in love. If you don’t know about his family, he has two young children, Luna and Miles. He is married to Chrissy Teigen, the mother of their two children.

Fans again are saying this win for Sexiest Man Alive is just something to add to his already impressive resume. Legend is often referred to as the EGOT man, with an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. It is now being said that his title should change to EGOTSMA, to account for this newest accomplishment.
When the news was released on November 12, it immediately began trending on Twitter. While many fans love John Legend, they could not help but argue that he is not someone they would consider sexy. Those fans took to Twitter to provide People Magazine with their options for the sexiest man alive. Some of the suggested options were Dwayne Wade, Keanu Reeves, Chris Evans and Jason Momoa. One person even went as far as to say that John Legend should not have gained the title simply because he looks like a “grown baby.”

Aside from what the fans are saying, we have to talk about what Chrissy Teigen said to Twitter. Her first tweet about his win says, “My secret is out. I have fulfilled my dream of having boned @people’s sexiest man alive!! an honor!!,” but she doesn’t stop there. Knowing that not everyone would be excited about Legends win she then tweeted, “I cannot WAIT for people to get mad about John being the sexiest man alive. It’s my new Starbucks holiday cup.” She also took the time to update her bio, which you can see in the picture below. Chrissy Teigen has always been very vocal about what she supports, and her husband and father of her children is an important part of her life.

Legend told People Magazine that he was not always so confident and that he had an awkward phase too. He was always the young one in his classes, being two years ahead of his track, so it was often hard for him to fit in. His mother always made sure to push his passion for music into what now makes him one of the most successful musicians out there. He states that when he wrote “All of Me” is when his career took an upward path towards success. Maybe it was all of this success, his family motives or his good looks, but congratulations on being 2019’s Sexiest Man Alive to John Legend!
