It is with great sadness/joy that I bring you the news of our beloved middle brother, Joe Jonas’s engagement to actress Sophie Turner. I would be lying if I said I was not listening to the Jonas Brothers’ entire discography while writing this; it’s therapeutic, in a sense. While most of us did not see this union coming, it has taken the world of Jonas Brothers fans by storm.
As someone who lives under a rock and does not watch Game of Thrones, I was thoroughly confused as to who this Sophie Turner was. However, after a bit of research, I may be convinced that the 21-year-old Brit will be a good fit for Joe (28), and maybe I’ll even start Game of Thrones soon.
A quick look at Joe’s previous relationships:
Let’s start in 2005, approximately the beginning of Joe’s public life:
- AJ Michalka: The other half of the iconic duo Aly and AJ briefly dated Joe in ’05, and it is rumored that “Potential Breakup Song” was inspired by him.
- Amelia Than-aye: Joe dated the Australian model for about eight months, and even wrote the song “Australia” for her.
- Taylor Swift: Remember when T.Swift revealed to the world that Joe broke up with her over a 27-second phone call on Ellen? I miss 2008.
- Camilla Belle: These two met while filming the music video for the JoBro’s song “Lovebug.”
- Demi Lovato: After playing each other’s love interests in Camp Rock, we all had a suspicion these two were dating. Sadly, they were not a match in real life and according to Nick Jonas, their relationship was very “complicated.”
- Ashley Greene: Joe was in a pretty serious relationship with the actress for about a year, but their conflicting schedules caused them to drift apart.
- Blanda Eggenschwiler: Joe dated the graphic designer for almost two years, and when they broke up, many believed it was because his family did not like her.
- Gigi Hadid: Even though Joe and Gigi broke up in late 2015, Joe apparently first asked her out at the Grammy Awards in 2010, when she was only 13 years old.

The timeline of Joe’s ex-girlfriends ends in 2016 when he started dating his now fiancé, Sophie. The two have received all kinds of support from family, friends, and even exes. Demi Lovato commented “HUGE CONGRATS” on Joe’s Instagram picture, proving once and for all, there are no hard feelings between her and Joe. Danielle Jonas, Kevin’s wife, shared her excitement for the newly engaged couple, and how happy she is to finally have a sister-in-law in an all-male family.
Even though Joe and Sophie’s matching Instagram captions of, “I said yes,” and “She said yes,” are cute, the best part of their relationship is hands-down their Husky puppy, who outshines both of them. Like many other millennials, the two have made an Instagram account for their fur child, Porky Basquiat (@porkybasquiat).
Though the news of Joe Jonas’s engagement has been heartbreaking for some, we cannot forget the fact that there are two more JoBros left, Nick (25) and Frankie (17). Who knows, maybe one of them will invite you to the wedding as their date.
