If you haven’t heard yet, Tinder added a brand new feature called Passport. Since we are all stuck inside in our homes, we can’t go out on awkward Tinder dates. But with this new Passport feature, users can change their location to wherever they please. If you want to see all the cute foreigners, now’s your chance. You must act fast because this feature is free until April 30. Obviously as a Tinder user myself I had to abuse this feature as much as I could. While using Passport I noticed some differences in each country I virtually traveled to. The best plus about foreign Tinder is I did not run into the stereotypical picture of a guy holding up fish. Not once. Thank God because I hate those pictures. That was probably the biggest blessing about my international Tinder experience. Maybe the American guys on Tinder could learn a thing or two.

Now before I get started I have to admit: Yes, I ran into a lot of f*ckboys. They exist everywhere, so don’t think just because they’re foreign they have the best of intentions. It surprised me how so many guys were like “You should fly to my country right now so we can meet up and f*ck.” Nice to know they had my safety in mind, but I’ll stay right here in my house where it’s safe.

The first country I traveled to was Germany and I was pleasantly surprised. The guys in Germany were killing the photo game. They had beautiful pictures of them outside and enjoying life. I didn’t see the stream of super blurry and dark pictures that I was used to. The language barrier was never a problem for me because most Germans speak English well. The guys were very quick to start talking to me after we matched, which isn’t something I’m used to. When I match with a guy they usually just ghost me or speak to me three days after we matched. It was nice to have an immediate conversation because I would immediately forget the people I matched with after six hours. Most of the conversations weren’t too crazy except for the one guy who offered to be my Sugar Daddy, but that is another story. German tinder was fun, but I was kind of missing the diversity I am used to here in America, so I felt a bit out of place. I decided to go to a place with a bit more diversity: Australia.

Australian Tinder was a fun experience because every time I read a message, my mind instantly defaulted to the stereotypical Aussie accent. After bingeing Love Island: Australia, I couldn’t help myself. I found the diversity I was missing and knowing they had an Australian accent was a huge plus. The profile pictures weren’t as good as the ones from Germany, but they were still better than American Tinder. In Australia, I didn’t have as many likes as I did in Germany, but the guys were still kind. I could hold the conversation better and we talked about our quarantine experiences.

The last place I visited was South Korea and this was a struggle. I don’t speak or read Korean so this was my biggest barrier. I would run into a few guys who knew a little bit of English and one or two who could speak fluent English. The one thing that stood out to me the most was their style. Wow. I was amazed at how neat and fashionable each guy was. It was a little bit weird to see most guys wearing makeup. It wasn’t super heavy makeup and it looked very natural, but it didn’t go unnoticed. The guys also used a lot of filters in their profile pictures compared to other countries. My favorite profile was the person who was pretending to be Bob Ross. That took me by surprise and I got a great laugh out of it. The language barrier made it impossible to talk with most of my matches, but at least my curiosity was satisfied.

Tinder Passport was a really fun experience because I got to talk to people internationally. Also, it was a bit of a confidence booster when I got super liked. If you want to go on a virtual travel adventure, Tinder passport is a great way to do it. You can ask the locals their favorite things about their city and if you ever plan to visit that country you can have a nice list of recommendations. I am planning to visit all these countries one day and it was nice to get advice on what I should see.
