I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter: NYX Butter Gloss & Lipstick Collection

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

As a self-proclaimed make up guru and lippie enthusiast, I am well aware of the necessity to keep essential shades like “Ruby Woo,” “Viva Glam,” and “Girl About Town” on hand at all times.  Now some may dispute this fact, but I think we can all agree that a girl must always possess a fabulous red lipstick and everyday lip-gloss, as well as the perfect nude lip shade to complete any ensemble.  Although I may spend a large amount of time in the mirror testing lip pencils to achieve the perfect Kylie Jenner-inspired pout, (by the way, I finally figured out her signature shade is “Whirl” by Mac), I also thoroughly enjoy scouring the shelves of Target, CVS, and Ulta, looking for the next best drugstore lip product.

NYX Cosmetics are well known for their quality and variety of essential make-up products, such as their Jumbo Eye Pencils and Dark Circle Concealer. Recently, they have created a line of creamy lip colors that are available in a variety of shades for every girl!

The NYX Butter Glosses are a line of crème-based lip colors that swipe on smooth as butter, just like the name states! Originally beginning with just 12 shades, NYX has added over 10 more shades this year to enhance the collection. With fun and yummy names like “Apple Strudel,” “Raspberry Tart,” and my personal favorite, “Strawberry Parfait,” these Butter Glosses are sure to impress. The signature Butter Gloss formula provides a smooth, medium-but-buildable coverage, and is heavily pigmented, so a little goes a long way with these lip treats.  NYX has truly perfected the art of creating a lip-gloss that is equally shiny and moisturizing, yet not at all sticky. This collection contains a great number of neutral and pink shades, so if you are in the market for the perfect everyday gloss, I would definitely suggest checking these products out!

If you are like me and sometimes prefer a more serious lip with your make-up look, then the NYX Butter Lipsticks would be a great add-on to your collection.  In addition to their glosses, NYX has created a line of silky lipsticks infused with satin, which means major hydration. The creamy formula helps the color to glide on easily and provides a lovely matte finish that will last for hours. With over 20 shades, there is something for every girl. These lipsticks are a full-coverage lip product, and just like the glosses, a little application makes for a great impact. As well as providing you with a vast array of peachy-pink shades, NYX also includes a few dark reds and vampy purples that will add that extra spunk to any look. My favorite is “Hunk,” a dramatic deep violet hue with hints of blue, perfect for a night out with the girls!

These NYX Butter Lip-Glosses and Lipsticks can be found in Target, CVS, and on the NYX website. What I love about ordering from their website is that they provide a easy color description right under the name of the shade. This makes differentiating between a “true red” and an “orangey-red” really easy and convenient. The Butter Lip-Glosses retail for about $4.99 while the Butter Lipsticks are only $6.00 respectively, perfect for a Collegiette budget!

Whether creating a look for class, game day, or a frat party, these lip products provide the perfect amount of moisture and pigment for hours of wear, all for a great price.
