Here’s What Happened at the NBC x Her Campus FSU Watch Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

On Sunday, Feb. 17, NBC and Her Campus brought the party to Florida State University with a fun-filled Watch Party right in time for Galentine’s Day! There were goodie bags, endless freebies and the cutest Instagram-able photo op for all that attended. If you didn’t get the chance to stop by, here’s what you missed:

At 6 p.m., girls eager for a chance to catch a glimpse of Skylar Astin in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist lined up in front of HCB 103 to grab a goodie bag and head inside to the Watch Party. Each attendee was given a bag with an adorable black and pink “Cash is Queen” hat to help them show off their excitement for a new season of Good Girls. The goodie bags included a handy flash drive, a set of super cute stickers, a pink pen and a lanyard to get the girl gang fired up for all of the fun to come.

To start off the night, each attendee wrote their name on a strip of paper to enter into a raffle where they could win a brand new Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist speaker in a bright yellow color or a brand new 16 oz. H2Go Karma glass bottle. As they grabbed their prizes, they noted the pretty heart-shaped decorations and trendy heart-shaped sunglasses that adorned the table. As everyone found their seats, they got ready to watch Beth, Ruby and Annie take the screen in Good Girls.

Starring Christina Hendricks, Retta and Mae Whitman, Good Girls is all about three women ready to build an empire all on their own. Despite the fact that many of the Watch Party participants hadn’t seen Good Girls before, they were hooked after watching the episode and were dying to know what happened next. Maybe it was Rico’s good looks or Retta’s one-liners, but all of the attendees who hadn’t seen the first two seasons were eager to binge them in time to finish the new third season.

After Good Girls, the attendees got a break to discuss the show and snag some feed-worthy photos with their gal pals in front of the designated photo wall. In true Galentine’s Day fashion, the girls posed in front of a red wall with heart garlands and adorable glasses-shaped props decked out in fun, Valentine’s Day-inspired patterns. To make the photo wall even better, attendees also took pictures with a Kodak disposable camera for that film-ready look. David Dobrik, eat your heart out!

Again, party-goers took their seats for the final showing: the pilot of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist! Following Zoey Clarke, the show focuses on a boss babe computer coder who can suddenly hear people’s innermost thoughts through popular songs. The crowd gasped and cheered at the sight of Lauren Graham, a Gilmore Girls favorite, alongside stars Jane Levy and Skylar Astin. They sang along to the songs, shimmied in their seats when watching the dance numbers and cried along with Zoey during the heartfelt ballad at the end of the episode (no spoilers, here). After the episode ended, attendees talked about how the music aspect of the show was refreshing and how the concept as a whole was different from other shows they’ve seen before. Moral of the story? Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is a must-see!

To end the night on a high note, attendees chowed down on some GrubHub-delivered pizza, salad, French fries, mozzarella sticks, subs and garlic rolls from a local restaurant. With Billie Eilish playing over the speakers, attendees ate and discussed the shows’ highlights and their favorite characters. On their way out, participants were invited to snap a final picture celebrating the NBC x Her Campus Galentine’s Day Watch Party in front of the photo wall with their new merch.

Along with their prizes and gift bag full of new goodies, every visitor left with Zoey’s Playlist stuck in their heads and burning questions about the next episode of Good Girls. A huge thank you to Her Campus, NBC and all of the brands that made this event possible!
