Gift Shopping Galore at Tallahassee’s Market Days

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

The 51st annual Market Days event, coordinated by the Tallahassee Museum, is quickly approaching! Market Days is one of the largest arts and crafts shows in the Southeast, featuring over 300 independent artisans and craftspeople. These artists will gather on the first weekend of December in the outdoor marketplace, located at the North Florida Fairgrounds right here in Tallahassee.

Hundreds of artists across the United States apply for a spot at Market Days, and a jury selection ensures that all vendors’ products are of exceptional quality. A wide array of featured works, including ceramics, fine arts, clothing, accessories, stained glass, furniture, woodwork, metalwork, photography and more make Market Days a prime opportunity to find unique holiday gifts this year.

In addition to a wide selection of goods, browsers will find that Market Days serves up a variety of refreshments. Vendors again pass an application process to serve their fare at Market Days; a variety of cuisine will be available from local favorites as well as restaurants from out-of-town.

Market Days provides an opportunity to seek the most unique holiday gifts (and maybe treat your self) just before heading home for winter break. Most importantly, shopping this event is not in vain. Every December for the past fifty-one years, Market Days has supported hundreds of independent artists and entrepreneurs preceding the holiday season.  In addition, ticket sales benefit a community staple, The Tallahassee Museum. This is a major fundraiser for the Capital City’s oldest museum, promoting conservation of regional history, culture and wildlife for over fifty years.

General admission tickets are available at the gate for $6 on the days of the event and are valid for single day admission. Free parking will be available as well as ticket specials for children or premier parking. More details can be found at: http://tallahasseemuseum.org/marketdays/about/
