Her Campus (HC): What are you involved with on campus?

Gaby González (GG): I am a member of Lady Spirithunters, Phi Eta Sigma, the Honors Student Association, Campus Rec Fitness Facility Operations (#RushLeach) and I am the current secretary of Seminole Tap Troupe!

HC: Can you tell us a little bit more about Seminole Tap Troupe? How did you first get involved?

GG: Seminole Tap Troupe is a student run organization at FSU that gives students the opportunity to continue tap dancing in college through weekly practices and performances in the Tallahassee area. The organization began in Fall of 2015, so we’re still relatively new but we’ve grown so much in such a small period of time. Emily Bard, the founder of the organization, is a friend and a fellow member of Lady Spirithunters, so when she first had the idea to start FSU’s first official tap club, I was immediately on board. I hadn’t danced for over a year at the time and I’ve never been much of a tapper, so initially I was very much out of my comfort zone, but joining was easily one of the best decisions I’ve made at FSU. I’ve learned so much in the past year and I get to do what I love most with some of my favorite people, what more could I ask for? Every single girl on the team is incredibly talented and so fun to watch, so be sure to check us out at performances around campus and in Tallahassee!

HC: That’s incredible! How long have you been dancing?

GG: On and off since I was 6! I spent 12 years at my studio at home and have been tapping for about a year and a half now.

HC: What else are you passionate about?

GG: Music. On top of dance, I also sang in choir in middle and high school and can play a little bit of piano. I wish I had more time to devote to it now, but with school and work, the only times I can fit it in are during my singing (really screaming though, let’s be real) sessions in my car and shower. My roommates and neighbors are the best for never complaining!

HC: Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?

GG: My deepest desire is to travel the world. Literally everywhere. I know everyone says that, but you should see my room! I have pictures up of places I want to go and a huge world map with everywhere I’ve been/want to go pinned. While everyone’s Pinterest is filled with wedding ideas and engagement rings, I’m over here with all these ideas of places I want to go and how to find cheap flights. I’m so excited because I’m planning on going to visit a friend this summer in Europe and we’re going to hit Italy and England while I’m there! I’ll be sure to send you a cannoli.

HC: I love it! You’re truly such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing and we will be waiting for that cannoli!
