Following FSU’s Football Season as Told by The Office

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

1. Season Opener against Ole Miss: Camping World Stadium, Orlando Florida

The Seminoles played the Ole Miss Rebels on September 5, 2016. End of the second quarter the Rebels are up 28 and the Noles only have 13 points on the board going into halftime. Thank goodness Jamies Winston talked some sense into our guys during his half time speech (which you can watch here) because the Noles came out firing on all cylinders. With another touchdown and a field goal the Noles won the season opener making a great first game to kick off the season.

2. Showtime releases first episode of A Season with Florida State Football

Finally, the world can see what an awesome program we have here at the best school in the state of Florida. The most anticipated series of the year and it’s finally here.

3. We annihilate Charleston Southern for the first home game at our beloved Doak Campbell Stadium

First home game of the season. Tailgates, burgers, hotdogs, and best of all, our favorite student section where the atmosphere is irreplaceable. You counted down the minutes until your student ticket window opened the Sunday before just to make sure you wouldn’t miss this moment.

4.  The Seminoles play Louisville at Louisville

Tuned in for a noon game against Louisville, we all watched hoping we would be able to put another W under our belts. We did previously win 45-34 and 52-8 so another W was expected. Louisville scored two touchdowns in the first quarter. Then three in the second quarter and again, twice, in the third quarter. And if that wasn’t enough, they scored yet another two touchdowns in the fourth. They polished us off 63-20. Personally, I wanted to crawl in a hole and cry.

5. On the road again: Game against University of South Florida Bulls

Hopeful that we can redeem ourselves from the previous week’s loss, but USF isn’t a hard team so we should be golden. Coming out strong, we scored 28 points in the first quarter. By the end of the game we scored a solid 55 points and only let USF score 35.

6.  North Carolina comes to Doak Campbell and courtesy of the terrible officiating, UNC won

Watching this game was so infuriating that I cannot even talk about it yet. Just know the referees won that game for UNC.

7. Miami hate week: one of the most exciting weeks of the year

The hurricane flag flew high above the practice fields signaling the upcoming collision with the Miami Hurricanes. Although, last year Miami hate week and Halloween were the same weekend so it was epic, this year it was fun too. This game was a much needed morale boost for the middle of the season.

8. Homecoming game at Doak Campbell against Wake Forest

Homecoming week is always full of awesome activities all leading up to the homecoming parade! Floats made by the Greek community as well as a multitude of other organizations all line College Street with beads and candy and balloons in hand. Parents, college kids and children line the streets to watch the parade and the next day alumni members of the band join the Marching Chiefs before kickoff. Personally, I enjoy when the male baton twirler comes to town; he kills it every year. Another W in the bag.

9. The most anticipated game of the season: Seminoles vs Clemson at Doak Campbell Stadium

After halftime the Tigers were up 17 – 14. Seminoles come out for the third quarter and score two touchdowns, holding Clemson to only a field goal, while all of Tallahassee screamed their hearts out. Unfortunately, at the end of the fourth quarter Clemson Tigers came out on top with 37 points to 34.

10. Away game against North Carolina State: A much-needed W

NC State is always a team we look out for because they play hard every year no matter if it is one of our home games or if we get on the road to visit them. After losing to Clemson the weekend before, everyone was a little hesitant as to how well we were going to play. Good thing the Noles are good at taking the season game by game.

11. Seminoles destroy Boston College 45-7

Finally! That’s what the Seminole Nation was waiting for. This game reminded me of my freshman year when we annihilated every team we encountered by at least 30 points every game. This decisive win revved up the entire Tallahassee community for the UF game two weeks away.

12. The streak continues: Win over Syracuse

A 45 to 14 win was a great way to warm up for the Florida game.

13. UF game at Doak Campbell. We still run this state.

31-13 Noles win and the gators still suck.
