Her Campus (HC): What made you choose FSU?

Errin Orzel (EO): It was as far as I could go without going out-of-state, and Tallahassee is so beautiful. There are actually seasons here.

HC: How are you involved on campus?

EO: I am the Historian, Yearbook Editor, and Public Relations Committee Chair of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity. I am also in the public relations and historian committees of Alpha Phi Omega, a national co-ed community service fraternity. I find myself at the College of Music almost every day even though I am not a music major.

HC: Do you have any hobbies?

EO: I am a self-taught freelance photographer; I do everything from headshots to behind-the-scenes photography. I’ve left the continent 22 times now!

HC: How did you get into photography?

EO: While I was traveling in Greece with my mom and aunt I was taking a few pictures on my phone of the Greek flag blowing in the wind, and I showed them to my mom. She studied advertising in college, which at the time included a lot of photography skills. She told me that I had an eye for it, something she never had. That same summer, I took my first visit to the Fotomuseum in Antwerp, Belgium and developed a really strong determination to get my own camera and start learning more about photography. I fell in love with this art form so fast, and after working two jobs in high school for about a year, I was able to afford my own DSLR. That was about three years ago.

HC: Where are some of the places you have traveled and why?

EO: I go to Belgium every year to visit family and I’ve been to England, Greece, Germany and Canada just to visit family!

HC: Wow! Around how many family members do you have?

EO: From all of the places I mentioned, about 15? We’re pretty spread out around the world. I’m planning on visiting Australia sometime soon to see some cousins I’ve never met!

HC: Speaking of the world, if you could change the world in one way, what would you do?

EO: I think I would do a widespread reevaluation of members of the police force around the world, and if it was found that their main prerogative was anything other than to protect people, they should be replaced. Saying “world peace” would be easier, but that’s where I’d start.

HC: What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when I say…

HC: Miley Cyrus.

EO: What’s good?

HC: Nuts.

EO: Deez.

HC: Drop.

EO: …It like it’s hot.

HC: The Avengers.

EO: YES (also, shawarma).

HC: Netflix.

EO: …And chill (also bae/life/crying buddy).

HC: Crash.

EO: Into me, yeahhhhh (from the song).

HC: Summer Love.

EO: Lana Del Rey playing in the background of a music festival (also lots of flower crowns).

HC: Government.

EO: Disappointed (also #FeelTheBern).

HC: FSU.

EO: Home.

HC: Hero.

EO: Baymax!

HC: That was fun! Where can we catch up with you online?

EO: I have a photography page on Facebook, an Instagram and a photography blog
