The season of Coachella has begun which means that everyone is watching their social media pages for people to start posting videos from the shows, outfits, celebrities they see, and their overall experience. It appears that during this time of year when college students are struggling to push through to finals and the weather starts to get warmer that Coachella is all anyone can talk about, giving us students a little “brain break” to swarm over the latest gossip.
In previous years, Coachella has been one of the only times when celebrities meet each other out on their own and in a more private sense, leaving room for anything to happen. But before we dive into what happens at Coachella and why so many people obsess over it, we have to ask this important question — what is Coachella?
Coachella is a music festival and a series of concerts that take place over roughly two weeks. It is held every year in California during the springtime and has some of the most popular and trending artists come to perform. It has hundreds of thousands of spectators every year, with all of them spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on a ticket.
Many celebrities attend Coachella as members of the audience, including Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, Camila Cabello, Emma Roberts, and many others.
It’s always interesting to see what outfits celebrities wear to the festival, and what kind of a show the performers will give. Every year, people anxiously wait to see if their favorite performers will be headlining the show. The festival is so big that there are multiple headlining artists that with at least 20 other supporting acts per day.
The selected artists are meant to appeal to younger generations and what is trending at the time. It also gets people excited to see so many different artists from a variety of genres all together in the same place. There’s music for everyone at Coachella!
In previous years, the headlining performers have ranged from Beyonce to Coldplay, to RD Hot Chili Peppers, and even Harry Styles. Last year, Harry Styles brought out guest performer Shania Twain and they even sang her hit song “I Feel Like A Woman” together!
As I mentioned earlier, tickets are very expensive and considered exclusive. The sunny skies of California are a perfect venue for the event too. People spend months planning the perfect outfits and posting them on Instagram for all to see. They are usually made with vibrant colors and eccentric details that keep people talking about how cool they are.
Despite how much fun it would be to attend Coachella, I am quite content watching videos on my phone since there have been some who do not enjoy the experience largely due to high costs, heat, and large crowds that can seem overwhelming.
Nevertheless, I am sure it is fun for the people who enjoy music festivals, and I will be obsessing over everything that makes Coachella seem so cool.
