Nov. 26 marked the final Eras Tour show of 2023, and with the next shows not until February, Swifties like me are in for a drought. There are no more live streams every weekend, insane surprise song combos, or clowning about album announcements (Reputation TV, I’m talking to you) for a while.

Since the tour began, my TikTok For You Page (FYP) has been full of concert videos, my favorite being “The Errors Tour” compilations. With three-and-a-half-hour shows that include ten outfit changes and intricate props, every night isn’t going to be flawless, but Swifties, and even Taylor Swift herself, embrace these imperfections. So, let’s have a look at some of the most memorable mishaps from the U.S. leg & Mexico.

Cat Jokes

Atlanta Night 2 – Apr. 29 (IYKYK)

Earpiece malfunctions call for cat jokes! That night, Swift had just finished her usual speech and was about to sing “Champagne Problems” when technical difficulties arose. Instead, she told a joke about a cat walking into a library and asking for tuna to pass the time for her earpiece to be fixed. Swift’s eras might change, but her love for cats will always stay.

“Bad Blood” with Security Guard

Philadelphia Night 2 – May 13

On this night, a security guard was treating a girl in the front row poorly, and Taylor stepped in to defend her fan. She was yelling at the security guard in between singing lines of the song. The girl was even given free tickets to the next night of the show! This incident became so popular among Swifties that fans made shirts, stickers, and more with the new “added lyrics.” I can’t even listen to “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” without hearing her interjections.

The Rainiest Rain Show That Ever Rain Showed

Foxborough Night 2 – May 20

If there’s one thing to know about Swift, it’s that she doesn’t cancel shows unless it’s necessary. The heavy rain didn’t let up for the full three-and-a-half-hour show, but Swift and her team still gave it their all. This included playing “Midnight Rain” in the downpour at almost midnight (perfect, right?). The rain also led to a piano malfunction the following night in which the piano was literally playing keys by itself. Many fans thought it was a joke and that she was about to play “Haunted” during the acoustic set.

Still Swift AF Boi

Cincinnati Night 1 – June 30

Normally, after the Reputation set, Swift is lowered under the middle of the stage to change for the next era. Only this night, the stage malfunctioned and the platform didn’t lower at the right time. Intuition must have kicked in because she took off sprinting up the stage to get backstage with enough time to change. Soon after the show, Swift commented “still swift af boi” on a fan’s TikTok video of the incident, and it’ll never be forgotten by us Swifties.

Broken Louboutin

Rio de Janeiro Night 3 – Nov. 20

Swift said it herself: “If the shoe fits, walk in it ‘til your high heels break.” Just minutes into the final show in Rio, Taylor’s Louboutin heel snapped. When “Cruel Summer” ended, she tore the sole of her shoe off and threw it into the crowd. Being the professional she is, Taylor stayed on her tip-toe for the rest of the Lover set, and people called it her real-life Barbie moment.

This list wouldn’t be complete without honorable mentions such as Swift swallowing a bug and failing to put her acoustic set dress on correctly, not once but twice.

I think it’s great that Taylor and her performers can laugh with the fans during these moments. Plus, occurrences like these make each show unique and more memorable. As for the 2024 shows, baby, let the games begin!
