My All-Time Favorite Celebrity Baby Names

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Alright everyone, get your Notes app ready! I’ve got some incredible baby name choices for you to pick from on this list of some of my favorite celebrity children’s names.

1. Malibu barbie

Starting the list off strong, we have Malibu Barbie Paytas-Hacmon, daughter of YouTube sensation Trisha Paytas and her husband Moses Hacmon. Born Sept. 14, 2022, Malibu made her arrival just in time to kick off the Barbie movie promotions that December. Malibu’s nursery is decked out in bright pink, with artwork featuring a logo that reads “Malibu Barbie.”

Personally, I would expect nothing less of Paytas in regard to naming a child. I think that the name Malibu Barbie kind of slays and I’m not loving the slander it’s gotten. I’m just intrigued to see how Malibu feels about her name as she gets older. I hope she appreciates her mother’s boldness in the choice.

2. Audio science

Shannyn Sossamon (actress in A Knight’s Tale) and Dallas Clayton welcomed their son, Audio Science Clayton, on May 29, 2003. Sossamon defended her unique name choice with the explanation, “We wanted a word, not a name, so my boyfriend read through the dictionary three or four times.”

I guess his name suits him though, because at 20 years old, Audio is now a singer, songwriter, and producer. Maybe the pair was manifesting their son’s future through his name. Mostly, I’m just surprised that the words “audio” and “science” were the words that stuck out to Dallas Clayton after his fourth read through the dictionary.

3. Apple

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple was born on May 14, 2004. While most girls get common names like Emma, Madison, and Grace, Paltrow went in a different direction (you win for creativity Gwyn).

Paltrow explained her reasoning for this name in an interview with Oprah, stating that when Martin suggested “Apple” for a girl, “It sounded so sweet, and it conjured such a lovely picture for [her]… Apples are so sweet and they’re wholesome, and it’s biblical.”

4. Aire webster

On Feb. 2, 2022, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott welcomed their second child together, Wolf Webster. However, this name was short-lived as Jenner posted via Instagram story, “FYI our son’s name isn’t Wolf anymore.” After further consideration, the name the couple picked to have on the birth certificate simply did not suit their son. On Jan. 21, 2023, Jenner posted a photo dump of her son with the caption “AIRE 🤍”, revealing her son’s official name on Instagram.

I’m a big fan of Jenner’s kids’ names. Stormi Webster is among one of my favorite celebrity baby names as well, and I think that the name change for Aire Webster was a good choice.

5. Pilot inspektor

On Sept. 28, 2003, baby boy Pilot Inspektor was brought into this world. Alvin and the Chipmunks actor Jason Lee certainly gave his son a peculiar name, but what sells it for me is the spelling of “inspector” with a “K” in place of the “C.”

When asked about the name choice, Lee said that it was inspired by Beth Riesgraf’s favorite song by Grandaddy, a rock band who sings the song “He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s the Pilot.”

6. Petal blossom rainbow

Jamie and Jools Oliver certainly chose a whimsical name for their baby girl on April 3, 2009. Petal Blossom Rainbow should not be a surprising choice for the pair though, seeing as their two daughters before Petal are called Poppy Honey Rosie and Daisy Boo Pamela.

7. North west

I couldn’t make this list and not include Kim Kardashian’s children’s names. Kardashian was reluctant toward the name when Jay Leno first joked about her using it. On her show, Kardashian said that she would never name her daughter that, but never say never because North West was born on June 15, 2013.

I find that the pairing of different directions in North West’s name is iconic. She isn’t the only Kardashian with an iconic name though. Her siblings Saint, Chicago, and Psalm all follow in her footsteps with names just as notable.

8. X Æ A-12

Elon Musk and Grimes certainly take the cake for the most distinctive name on this list, and it would have been a crime to not include it. Baby Musk’s name was shortly altered from X Æ A-12 to X Æ A-Xii to conform to California law, where names can only use the 26 letters of the alphabet… because that’s where the problem in this name lies.

Musk says that the name is pronounced “X-Ash-A-12”, which is certainly a choice for a child and not a robot. Honestly, it just makes me laugh every time I remember it.

I hope you find these celebrity baby names just as inspiring as I do. Maybe you’ll keep them in mind for future generations.
