There are a few things that almost every FSU student can recognize: brick buildings, garnet & gold, and, of course, the campus cats. Whether you’ve stopped on your way to class to pet one or simply admired them through the FSU Campus Cats Instagram account, these cats are essentially FSU celebrities.
We might know their names and faces, but that’s only the beginning. Each of the cats has a personality of their own, which raises an important question: Which one are you?
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) sorts people into 16 personality types based on different combinations of traits. Somehow, those 16 personalities also fit the personalities of six of FSU’s most recognizable campus cats. Whether you already know your type or you just took the test five minutes ago, here’s your FSU campus cat based on your MBTI.
ESFP, ENFP, and ESFJ: Fritz
If your personality type is ESFP, ENFP, or ESFJ, you’re Fritz!
Fritz might be one of the easiest campus cats to spot because he actually enjoys being seen. He wanders around campus, loves attention, and has become one of the most recognizable cats among students. You could describe him as both goofy and fun, which feels fitting for this group.
ESFPs are the strongest Fritz match. You’re outgoing, spontaneous, and always positive. ENFPs share his friendly and adventurous energy, while ESFJs match the fact that Fritz seems to know everyone and, more importantly, that everyone seems to know Fritz. If you’re the friend who can’t cross Landis Green without running into someone you know, congratulations! You’re Fritz.
ENTJ, ESTP, and ISTP: Pebbles
Pebbles is the cat that doesn’t need your approval, and neither do these personality types.
She’s a diva in the best possible way. Pebbles is pretty, confident, and viewed as one of the younger cats, but don’t confuse that with being easily impressed. She does what she wants, when she wants, and she’s not changing her plans to accommodate anyone else. ENTJs fit Pebbles because they tend to know exactly what they want and have very little interest in pretending otherwise. ESTPs share her confidence and boldness, while ISTPs share her independent streak.
Basically, if someone has ever called you intimidating before actually getting to know you, you might be a Pebbles.
ISFJ, INFJ, and ENFJ: Tofu
Some people are naturally comforting to be around, and Tofu is the cat version of that.
This all-white campus favorite can usually be found in her own area around Rogers Hall, separate from most of the cats that stay closer to the psychology building. You could describe her as sweet, soft, friendly, and slightly shy. ISFJs make the strongest Tofu match because of their gentle and caring personalities. INFJs share her quieter energy, while ENFJs have her warm and welcoming personality.
If your friends describe you as the person they call when they need comfort, advice, or someone to simply sit with them, you’re probably Tofu. You might not be demanding the spotlight, but people appreciate you every time you show up.
INFP, INTJ, and ISFP: Papaya
Getting Papaya to trust you is honestly an FSU achievement.
Papaya is one of the hardest campus cats to get to know. She’s extremely skittish, and approaching her too quickly will probably result in watching her disappear in the opposite direction. However, she’s formed bonds with a very small group of people whom she trusts. That selectiveness makes Papaya a perfect fit for INFPs, INTJs, and ISFPs. INFPs can relate to her sensitive nature, INTJs understand keeping a very small inner circle, and ISFPs share her quietness and independence.
You might take longer to open up than the Fritz of your friend group, but when you genuinely trust someone, that relationship means a lot to you.
ISTJ and ESTJ: Bug
Most of the campus cats wander. Bug, however, appears to prefer stability. He is known for hanging around the Chick-fil-A area, which makes ISTJ and ESTJ feel like the obvious choices. These types tend to appreciate consistency and structure.
While Fritz explores campus and Papaya avoids human interaction, Bug has decided where he belongs. If you have a favorite study spot, order the same thing every time you go somewhere, and feel personally offended when someone changes plans at the last minute, you’re definitely Bug.
ENTP and INTP: Ragnar
Finally, we have Ragnar for the ENTPs and INTPs.
Ragnar is another psychology-building celebrity, but unlike Fritz, he can be a little harder to track down. He loves people and attention when he’s around them, but he’s also surprisingly elusive. One minute he’s happily getting attention, and the next, he’s nowhere to be found.
That mix makes ENTP a natural match. ENTPs are social, curious, and playful, but they can also be unpredictable and hard to pin down. INTPs fit Ragnar for a slightly different reason. They might enjoy being around people more than they let on, but they still need their own space and sometimes disappear into their own world.
Of course, no personality test can completely define someone, and no FSU campus cat can be contained by four letters. Still, I’d argue that being assigned an FSU campus cat is much more important than whatever career suggestions your MBTI results gave you. Whether you got Fritz, Pebbles, Tofu, Papaya, Bug, or Ragnar, you’ll know which campus cat represents you the next time you spot one on your way to class!
