Tallahassee’s Best Boba Spots To Try This Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

In the era of indulging in sweet treats (because you deserve it), it’s important always to consider boba tea as one of those tasty options. While it’s still sweater weather, there’s never a wrong season to get boba. When the temperature inevitably begins to skyrocket again, this chilled beverage will make the heat a bit more bearable.

With the wide variety of options at any given boba shop, there’s a specific combination that will delight even the pickiest people. From popping boba pearls to the classic brown sugar tapioca boba pearls, there’s almost certainly a boba choice for your exact craving. No matter the occasion, it’s always nice to enjoy a sugary milk tea or a refreshing fruit tea. Despite your personal preference when it comes to sweet drinks, this list is guaranteed to help satisfy your boba tea sweet tooth during your long study sessions this spring semester.

Pong’s Boba Tea

Located very close to the outskirts of FSU’s campus lies Pong’s Boba Tea. It’s a quaint yet adorable cafe that has a wide variety of sweet beverages to choose from along with certain pastries. The warm lighting makes the place feel cozy enough to chat with friends for hours there.

One of the most popular items on their menu is the classic black milk tea, which you can never go wrong with. If you’re craving a more tropical taste, the Mango Tango drink is also a popular choice. This drink is a jasmine green tea with infused mango and strawberry, which is perfect for a small boost of caffeine and refreshment. The menu is pretty widespread, even featuring seasonal drinks (such as pumpkin spice in the fall). You can choose from a variety of dairy milk options and alternative milk options for all the milk teas.

If you want a snack to go along with your boba, Pong’s also has you covered. They have a variety of macarons to choose from and rice krispie treats, including a matcha krispie.

Pong’s Boba Tea is in a joint building with a Roboto Tokyo Grill neighboring in the same building. You can order delivery from them through Uber Eats and Bite Squad.

Natural Kitchen

With their two locations being close to opposite ends of campus, Natural Kitchen is a go-to for my friends and me. It seems like whenever we’re around either location, we inevitably end up inside and asking for our signature boba flavors. The bright interior and large number of seats make it an ideal place for a daytime gossip session or an afternoon cram session.

If you’re looking for a unique boba, I suggest the Bubble Rose Milk Tea drink. It has a specific taste that I’ve rarely seen in many other boba orders. A more popular drink choice would be the Bubble Brûlée Milk Tea, which features a heavy cream mixture that gives an extra layer of texture, making it seem true to its name as the beverage version of a crème brûlée. If you’re looking for something lighter and sparkling, the fruit-flavored nonalcoholic mojito drinks are a must-try Natural Kitchen staple.

There are two locations in Tallahassee. One is on W. Tennessee Street, which is fairly close to the College of Medicine. The second location is on W. Gaines Street, which is in the heart of College Town. They are available for delivery through GrubHub, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Postmates.

Paris Banh Mi

Located farther than the others mentioned before, yet still worth the slightly longer seven-minute drive past campus is Paris Banh Mi. It’s a Vietnamese cafe and bakery, with a large menu of beverages and food, both savory and sweet.

The Lychee Milk Tea is the perfect option if you can’t decide whether to get a fruit-flavored or a milky drink. This creamy drink allows you to experience the refreshment of the lychee fruit while still enjoying the classic milk tea taste. If you’re looking for something more caffeinated yet still tasty, try the Sea Salt Coffee, which comes with a frothy heavy cream foam at the top. This café has a full-fledged menu of delicious Vietnamese sandwiches, stuffed croissants, and even burgers. It’s a perfect place to go on an empty stomach.

Located on N. Monroe Street, the place is still easily available to students. There are delivery options available at GrubHub or take-out options available through ordering ahead on their website.

One of my favorite things to do in my hometown was to get boba with friends. However, when I first moved to Tallahassee, I wasn’t sure which places would deliver the flavors I was used to. It took a year and a half of research, but these are my top spots as of now.
