There are many great perks of being a FSU student, and free stuff all over campus is one of them (giving us the infamous nickname, Free Stuff University)! You might think to yourself, “It’s just going to offer the Leach, Health and Wellness Center, tutoring, and advising.” Those are all amazing free resources, but don’t fret; this guide will give you more personalized resources that you can take full advantage of!

Have you ever scrambled to find a blank spot in your apartment to take a “professional” photo? Maybe that’s just me, but FSU has a photo booth that takes professional photos that you can use on any networking sites and in portfolios.
This photo booth is in the Dunlap Success Center in the first-floor Career Center library. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., no appointment needed. You pop in, snap your beautiful headshot, and you’re set!
Now, you may be thinking, “Wow, I have no business casual clothes, though.” Luckily, there’s an on-campus professional clothing closet that is free for students! The professional clothing closet allows students to pick out four pieces per semester at no cost. This resource requires you to make an appointment, and it’s on the third floor of the Dunlap Success Center.
Now, I’m ready to create my dream office siren look!

I was scrolling one day on my Instagram feed and stopped mid-swipe because I was too stunned to speak. FSU offers complimentary subscriptions to “The New York Times” and “The Wall Street Journal.” I didn’t even finish my doom scroll; I went to the website and quickly made my free accounts. Now I can truly say I keep up with the news.
Having a subscription to “The New York Times” has a wide range of perks such as unlimited digital reporting, podcasts and narrated articles, daily games, and more.
“The Wall Street Journal” is more skewed towards business professionals and economists. They also have perks like podcasts, daily games, and unlimited digital reporting. I like to pretend I know what I’m reading about markets and trades while lying in bed before class.
- Movies, Pop-ups, and More
-
The Askew Student Life Center (ASLC) has a movie theatre for students at FSU. The ASLC posts its movie screenings on Instagram with the dates and times; try to catch the next show!
Lastly, some honorable mentions in this guide to freebies on campus are, of course, the pop-ups, tables at Market Wednesdays and Landis Green.
I have yet to attempt getting in those lines for a brand pop-up, but wow, do those freebies look amazing. Knowing the ins and outs of those events is crucial to successfully obtaining free merch. As always, if you walk by Landis to get to class, keep your eyes peeled for cold drinks, snacks, and little free things.
There are so many things we can get on campus, but it’s hard to keep up. One way you can find out about these events or resources is to get involved. Attend club meetings and stay on campus a little longer, and you never know what you can find.
College is super expensive, but with this guide, being a finesser just got a whole lot easier. Enjoy all the perks your campus has to offer you; you deserve it!
