It seems that our football team aren’t the only champions around here. Miss Victoria Cowen placed third runner up in the Miss America Pageant on Sunday September 14th. Victoria Cowen, age 21, is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, a Florida State University Golden Girl alum and current markting major.
It started from humble beginnings when she was crowned 2014 Miss Florida on June 28 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Cowen competed in the Miss Florida Pageant for the second consecutive year after being named Miss North Florida in December 2013, and represented the state of Florida at the prestigious Miss America Pageant that was held this year in Atlantic City, N.J. Tori excelled throughout the whole pageant, doing a contemporary interpretative dance to Diane Warren’s Note to God. When it came down to the often difficult on stage question that all top five participants are chosen to answer, she strongly and confidently spoke about her platform. She was asked whether she agreed with the decision that wife of NFL player Ray Rice made to stay, after videos were released of him violently abusing her. She eloquently stated “ I know that’s a very hard decision but me personally I don’t agree with it. My platform is One Chance, One Choice and that is all about making the right choices. I don’t think he did and I don’t think he deserves a second chance.”
This proving that Tori is definitely more than a pretty face in a bedazzled dress. She is the founder and president of One Chance, One Choice Org. A non-profit organization focused on empowering the youth of today to make the right decisions. She has spearheaded One Chance since June of 2008 and also done executive consulting for Rodan and Fields Dermatology since October of 2013. With a hefty resume like she has it’s no wonder Tori has risen so fast to stardom. Tori hopes to work on the board for a non-profit organization one day and with this platform I’m sure she can definitely make those dreams come true.
