It is not uncommon for artists to brand themselves around collaborations all while keeping a sense of individuality. Gonzalo Julián Conde, professionally known as Bizarrap, is a 24-year-old music producer from Ramos Mejía, Argentina, whose fame proliferated through his various music sessions with other Latino artists. At the age of 14, Bizarrap (BZRP) voiced his interest in music theory and began to pursue his passion for producing. In the early days of his career, Bizarrap—back then referred to as Bizarrap Combos—gained online popularity by composing different compilations of Argentinian rap battles. By the time he was 19 years old, BZRP had already worked with rappers such as Duki and Khea.

Once he gathered these connections, his career began to expand, and his name circulated on various Hispanic music charts. He began uploading video versions of these music sessions on YouTube and titled them “BZRP Freestyle Sessions.” His brand revolves around the production of the song itself, which is why they are not titled, but rather given the number of the session itself.

Bizarrap hit a milestone in his career through the production of “Nathy Peluso: Music Session, Vol. 36” with Argentinian singer Nathy Peluso. This song—released in 2020—charted in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Spain. This song was No. 1 on iTunes, No. 6 on the radio charts and No. 5 on Spotify charts. Released in 2021, “L-Gante: BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 38,” resulted in a peak in Bizarrap’s fame as the song held the No. 1 spot in multiple charts.

Once Spanish rapper and singer professionally known as Quevedo joined Bizarrap’s music sessions in 2022, both their names gained recognition worldwide. Their club-hit “Quevedo: BZRP Music Sessions, Vol.52,” combines Bizarrap’s electric production and Quevedo’s encouraging lyrics to create an alluring anecdote that promotes a night of longing and careless enjoyment. In August 2022, their song held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 for four weeks, dropping Harry Styles’ “As It Was” to No. 2 after it held the No.1 spot for 13 weeks.

Following the success of his collaboration with Quevedo, Bizarrap and Colombian star Shakira released a song rumored to be a diss track about her split with former professional Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué. Their collaboration, “Shakira: BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” gave Bizarrap a spot in the American spotlight. Not only did Jimmy Fallon give Bizarrap his first talk show interview, but he publicly acknowledged the 14 Guinness World Records that Bizarrap and Shakira accomplished from their collaboration. Among these records were the “most streamed Latin track on Spotify in 24 hours” and “fastest Latin track to reach 100 million views on YouTube.”

On their appearance on The Tonight Show, Shakira and Bizarrap performed their “global monster of a song” live for the first time, reaching audiences beyond Latin America. Shakira explained that it was her 10-year-old son Milan who pushed her to collaborate with Bizarrap because he knew they were “going to be number one”—and he was right. Bizarrap pitched the idea to Shakira through Instagram direct message and the rest is history. Shakira described their song as having a “cool, dark undertone” with beats that remind her of Depeche Mode’s music. Bizarrap added to her comment by saying that the song has a “lot of synths,” and it resembles an ’80s track. Shakira ended the interview by stating that the song was not only meant to express her feelings, but it acted as a forum for women who needed “a voice to represent them” and expose certain struggles women face in relationships.

This collaboration pushed Bizarrap’s career further and created a buzz around Shakira. As a result of the release of their song, Shakira took the record for “first female artist to replace herself at No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart.”

Bizarrap’s latest music session, “Arcángel: BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 54” with American/Dominican rapper Arcángel has maintained the standards by reaching 29 million views and being No.2 on trending for music on YouTube in just five days.

Bizarrap is not just a humble young man from Argentina, but he is a creative who understands music in a way not everyone can. His career is only going up and the opportunities keep appearing.
