The Grammys are always a good time: your favorite artists’ albums may receive nominations, and you can see them up front and center… in either a lovely or horrendous outfit. Analyzing celebrities’ diverse ensembles on the red carpet is one of the most exciting components of the award show, as they can be completely unpredictable. This year is no different. Let’s review the top five best and worst outfits (in my opinion) of the Grammys red carpet.

Loathe iT

5. Julia Michaels

The “Issues” and “If The World Was Ending” collaborator is draped in an Azzi & Osta white gown, with jewels embroidered along the cutouts near her torso with an open back component. The dress itself is boxy and although eyebrow-raising, it’s an awkward fit.

4. Madonna

Seen in a headmaster-esque styled outfit with braid pigtails, a riding crop and a new face, fans speculate Madonna was cosplaying Professor Trunchbull from Matilda.

3. Ingrid Andress

Stepping out in a slinky black dress with a triangular geometric design, it’s simple and more of a movie premiere event look. However, the “thong” back is what shocked people the most.

2. Camilla Cabello

Although the hair and makeup are perfected, the bland open-leg-slit skirt and flower pasties over the wire-like bralette do not mesh well, adding a disorganized look to the outfit.

1. Blac Chyna

Clad in feathers, jewels, crystals and tights, this feels more like a Met look. Or maybe even a Black Swan remake.

LOVE IT

5. Lucky Daye

A lot of attendees wore black; a lot of them wore suits. But Lucky Daye took it a step further with a show-stopping futuristic look that is one-of-a-kind and perfect for the Grammys.

4. Megan Fox and MGK

This look stood out to me because each of its pieces is unique, albeit simple in its own way. However, the beauty is transformed into something more ethereal and eye-catching when they stand next to each other. They are each other’s better halves.

3. Anitta

Clad in a Versace floor-length and adorned with Tiffany diamonds, Anitta glows in this blast from the past. A lovely choice for The Met, as well.

2. Kayla Nicole

Kayla drops jaws with this glittering, form-fitting gown that is both abstract as it is beautiful. One of the best looks of the night and very fitting for The Met.

1. Matt B and Ashley Benson

On to the night’s grand finale, Matt B and his wife Ashley Benson win the spot for the best dressed of the night in a stunning and grand ensemble that could belong to The Met and gave strong Lana Del Rey vibes. Once again, their complementary fits make the look even more unforgettable.

The 65th Grammy Awards was one for the books; whether it be the shocking winners or the mind-boggling outfits that rule the red carpet, it is always a sight to behold every year. Rating the celebrity ensembles is just part of the fun, and no harm is intended or aimed toward any of these attendees.

Other notable outfits worthy of recognition are Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ entourage draped in vintage Victor Costa. There’s also Doja Cat in her unforgettable outfits, Kacey Musgraves in pink Valentino faux fur, Maneskin in Gucci, Cardi B’s Met looks and many other lovely pieces. See you next year.
