If you’ve never heard of Big Bootie Remixes, you’re seriously missing out. Two Friends are a DJ/Producer duo, and they’re just how they sound: two friends. Eli Sones and Matthew Halper met when they were in middle school in Los Angeles, California. They bonded over their love for music, and soon they started creating beats together. When asked how they got started, Eli replied with, “It started pretty naturally, where there wasn’t much of a plan or any goals, really. It was more like: ‘Hey, we’re both best friends, we both like music, this could be a fun thing to try.’ We kind of just went for it. It was so fun that we kept spending more time on it and taking it more seriously.” According to a Louis T interview, this led to a lifelong friendship, and eventually some great remixes. Eli attended Vanderbilt University, and Matt attended Harvard.

The mixes they make are about an hour long. They include popular songs from the time and blend them with cool beats. Lots of people listen to Big Bootie Mixes to workout, on a long road trip, or at parties. They have gotten lots of attention from the media, and other EDM artists. The Chainsmokers said that Two Friends was the “most underrated artist” of 2017. In 2017, they were awarded “Top DJ Set” by Soundcloud for one of their more popular mixes, “Big Bootie Mix 11.”

Their mixes have featured popular songs such as Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Tove Lo’s “Talking Body.” These are just a few of the songs that are thrown into the mix. One of the unique things that Two Friends do with their work is they throw in pop culture references. For example, in Big Bootie Mix 14, there are many references made to the popular American sitcom, The Office. In between beat drops, you can hear the voice of Michael Scott yelling famous lines such as, “Dwight, you ignorant slut!”  You can listen to Big Bootie Mixes on any music streaming platform including Spotify, SoundCloud, and YouTube.

Another thing hidden in these mixes is shout outs and tributes. In Big Bootie Mix 15, there was a tribute to Mac Miller at the end of the song. BBM15 was released shortly after Mac died. The tribute did not go unrecognized.

But it gets better. Not only does Two Friends just do mashups, but they also produce their songs. Some of their original hit songs include “Dollar Menu” and “Band-Aid.” Two Friends often visit many colleges, performing for schools’ homecomings and such. They are going on another tour shortly. Dates and locations are expected to be announced soon. And Friday, another one of their famous mixes dropped. Fans have been waiting for months for this release. There have even been billboards seen on the side of the road advertising for #BBM16. This one is titled “The Adventures of Big Bootie Man.”

If you’ve never heard of Big Bootie Mixes, definitely check them out. They go all the way back, so if you listen to the earlier mixes, you will be transported back to the 2000s, with songs such as Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time” and Fergie’s “London Bridge.” Listen to more recent mixes, and you’ll be hit with all the popular artists nowadays.  Be sure to follow Two Friends on Instagram (@twofriendsmusic) to keep up with the latest.

And don’t forget to tune into #BBM16!
