Food is a very important part of binge watching. Pick the wrong food and the entire experience is lost. In order to avoid the food and show dysphoria, here is a guide on which food to eat and why it is perfect for your viewing pleasure of our favorite Netflix OGs.
Grace and Frankie
The food for this show is a watermelon…. a watermelon infused with vodka. During the show, Grace infuses a watermelon with the drink and calls it “cooking.” Sometimes it is right to take advice from Grace. This is one of those times. Tip: Make sure its flavored vodka or else that watermelon will be soaked with the taste of rubbing alcohol.
Stranger Things
Eggo Waffles. Hands down. I don’t really feel like I should explain this one because if you have been anywhere near pop culture the past year, you know Eleven eats Eggo. Stranger Things’s Super Bowl ad featured Eggo. People have bought more Eggo now than in my childhood, where everyone was crazy for the “Leggo my eggo” advertisements. Eggo = Stranger Things food.
Master of None
Pasta is the best meal for this show for several reasons. Primarily, pasta is diverse. It can be used in Indian food or Italian food. Indian inspired pasta is perfect because hello, Aziz Ansari (and they go to an Indian restaurant in the show). Italian also works because the first season (SPOILERS) ends with him going to Italy to learn how to be a chef.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
This show is about a woman experiencing modern life for the first time so it is only appropriate that you eat whatever the new trendy food is. Edible cookie dough? Eat it. Kale? Eat it, drink it or infuse it. Consume anything that will confuse Kimmy. I see an episode in the future having this plot.
Orange is the New Black
This show is super suspenseful. That is why popcorn is the perfect snack for this show. There is so much going on you can’t pay attention to what you are eating or look away from the screen in the fear that you might miss something. Popcorn is also nice to spit out whenever something dramatic plays out.
Peaky Blinders
This isn’t so much a food as a drink show. That drink being an Irish coffee. Those boys are cold, no doubt about it. The temperature is freezing and their hearts are frozen. They need something to make them warm. As a viewer you need to stay warm because a lot of crazy shit happens in this show and a little whiskey and warmth can only help you process it.
