One of the best things that Tallahassee offers students of FSU is a variety of dining options.  From Wells Brothers (Monks) to Bruster’s to Tomahawk’s, it is always tough choosing one place to eat. There is no exception with coffee shops!

On the daily, I see the stereotypical college girl strolling around campus with a Starbucks latte in hand. The convenient Starbucks locations on campus make it easier than ever to stop in between classes for a cup of joe.

However, even I, a stereotypical Starbucks junkie, sometimes need a switch up.  For the colder months I crave hot lattes and teas. I am willing to say so long to my PSL and opt for a homey alternative. One of my personal favorite places to go for this reason is Atomic Coffee.

Atomic Coffee – a beloved coffee shop located on West Tennessee. Free Wi-Fi? Check. Adorably named drinks? Double check. This place is also open late at night, which also works well for an all-nighter. With a variety of sandwich and drink options, Atomic Coffee caters to all taste buds and everyone can find something to munch on.

A few of my favorite lattes are the Girl Scout Cookie (a mocha and peppermint latte), the Cake Batter (vanilla latte with almond), and the Chocolate Covered Cherry (mocha with cherry).  For food, I love The Nutty Professor (chocolate, Nutella on grilled cinnamon bread. Oh yeah.). All of these items are reasonably priced and can compare to Starbucks with one exception. The lattes can be served in mugs and the cream is creatively designed in a heart pattern.  Come on girls, who doesn’t love a cute-heart-swirly-thing?!

The shop itself is decorated nicely and has warm coffee brown hues. The seating incorporates long high-top tables for students to comfortably talk to their friends or pull out a laptop and type up papers. The shop is quaint and not too crowded, so you can have conversations and be able to hear each other.  Add in a scatter of rustic leather chairs and you’ll be feeling at home in a matter of minutes. Waiting for your drink is a breeze because you can simply find a seat and sit until your name is called. Outside seating is also an option, and because the weather is nicer; that may be my new place to enjoy my drinks!

The West Tennessee location is in walking distance to FSU campus, but there are exciting developments for the coffee chain! As of a few months ago, Atomic Coffee began construction on the lower level of The Luxe apartment complex. Located on Call Street, this new location is right next to the College of Medicine. This marks the renowned coffee shop’s third opening!

Atomic Coffee is open on the East Campus 625 Tennessee Street and 106 College Ave East from Monday – Friday from 7 AM – 6PM, Saturday & Sunday from 8AM – 12AM, and they serve breakfast and lunch until 4PM. They also offer online ordering and even FREE delivery options!
