Alexis Ren’s Colourpop Collection is Stealing the Show

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Alexis Ren has been a sensation ever since her Instagram blew up when she was a teenager, as well as her picture perfect relationship with her now ex boyfriend, Jay Alvarez. She became famous when her professional modeling career stole the hearts of Instagram users. Now, at twenty years old, girls envy her and guys love her. Something she doesn’t post about on Instagram is makeup, so I was surprised to see that she has collaborated with Colourpop to create her own makeup line. Of course, she’s a model so nothing is ever natural, but her vibe on Instagram has always focused on her natural beauty. The makeup she wears appears to be very minimal, as she is always shooting in a bikini or at the beach. However, the make up in her collection is not too dramatic.

The main elements of Alexis’ collection are lipsticks. These come in the form of liquid and traditional lipsticks, called the “blotted lip.” From deep reds, to nudes, the lip colors are exotic and sexy. The liquid lipsticks are $6 and the more traditional style goes for $5. The collection lives up to Colourpop’s relatively low prices for high quality make up products.

I have the product “Deja vu” in the mail on its way to be right now and, from the nothing but excellent reviews I have read, I am excited to try it out for myself. This mauve-y nude color can be dressed up or dressed down. For a day where you feel like looking natural, it would be paired nicely with just some foundation or mascara. When you want to go for a bolder look, it could be offset with a bold eye shadow and look wonderful.

The collection also features a pressed powder face duo, “Topaz.” It features a matte bronze shade with a warm undertone, as well as a slightly shimmery pearl highlighter. The packaging also contains a mirror, perfect for on-the-go use. The product runs for $15, which is on the rather pricey side compared to what Colourpop usually sells their products for. Personally, I prefer to contour with cooler tones, so I will not be ordering this product. As of right now, it is sold out on Colourpop.com and the maximum quantity for purchase when in stock is two.
