It’s been five years and we are finally getting what we’ve been longing for. No, it’s not new music from Rihanna, even though we are patiently waiting for that too. It’s the strong possibility that Adele may soon be releasing a new album! 2011 was when Adele’s first album, 21 launched her into the musical stardom. And the fifteen-time Grammy award winner’s last album 25 dropped in 2015. It was the last time the world got a glimpse of her talent and angelic voice and we’ve been patiently waiting for her to again grace us with her gift.
Recently, Adele officiated and also performed at the wedding of her friends, Laura Dockrill and former Maccabees member, Hugo White. At the wedding Adele briefly mentioned a new album, stating, “Expect my album in September.” Here’s the video to prove it. So, fans are now giddy with anticipation, however, the rep for the singer would not verify the statement nor have any details been released about an impending album. However, her manager, Jonathan Dickens, told Music Week that the new album will be coming out this year, adding “the sooner, the better.” The artist herself mentioned the possibility of a new album via her Instagram post after what she stated was a difficult year, which included her split from her husband Simon Konecki. In May she captioned her post with “This is 31… thank f*cking god, 30 tried me so hard, but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean into it all.” She added, “For the first time in a decade, I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once.” Nothing can keep Adele down. That’s our girl.
Over this past year, a lot has happened in Adele’s life. In April 2019, she and her husband of nearly seven years, Simon Konecki, split. As Adele’s stardom grew, Simon was often in the background which possibly contributed to their growing apart. They are, however, still amicably raising their son, Angelo, together. Additionally, Adele has experienced a major weight loss, reportedly losing over 100 pounds to which she credits her former trainer, Camila Goodis. All of these challenges are bound to be incorporated into her new album, and we are looking forward to yet another of her authentic and sincere compositions.
In the past, Adele has titled her albums the age at which they were written. For instance, 19, 21 and 25 were all reflective of her age at the respective time of writing each. Having celebrated her birthday last May, she’s now 31, so perhaps could we expect that 30 will be the name of her new album? Don’t count on it. According to sources, she has said that this will not be the case as she has said that she believes in trilogies, so the last album ended that tradition. So, what might the title be? Well recently while on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke she said she would consider naming the new album simply Adele.
That works for us, Adele!! We’ve been missing you for so long that any title is fine with us as we simply can’t wait to have you back. And like your manager says, “The sooner, the better”!
