A Guide to Pedro Pascal, According to Someone Who Has Been Obsessed With Him Since 2020

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

I remember the first time that I ever heard of Pedro Pascal. It was my sophomore year of high school, and the streaming service Disney+ had announced a new show based on the Star Wars universe. At the time, The Mandalorian didn’t look like something that would explode online, but with the introduction of the infamous Baby Yoda, the show soon took the internet by storm. Pascal was cast as the titular character, and though the helmeted hero only showed his face once in the entirety of the first season, you could say that I quickly became kind of obsessed.

If I was best described by my friends, being entirely too into Pedro Pascal would be one of the first things they would say. It’s kind of my thing, and though many early fans tease about “gatekeeping” the actor, I’m here to spread the agenda, not the other way around. The Chilean American actor has a full resume, but is best known for his appearances in Game of Thrones, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and his newest credit The Last of Us where he stars as the protagonist, Joel Miller. With such a full resume, it’s only natural that he has so many adoring fans. However surprisingly, his sudden boost in fame didn’t come straight from the source, but from somewhere else completely unlikely: a TikTok edit.

Boosting an impressive 8.9 million views, it was only natural that the edit would cause an influx of conversation over the actor. If you’re not convinced, all you have to do is read the comments. Not only is Pascal an impressive actor, he also regularly interacts with fans across Twitter and Instagram. Many fans have taken to creating memes about his presence in HBO Max’s newest adaptation of The Last of Us, which for many was their first introduction to Pascal and his work.

Moreover, despite the fact that many A-list celebrities keep their political opinions to themselves, Pascal is incredibly vocal about social issues, including LGBTQ+ matters and gun violence. He regularly speaks out about injustices and calls for action from his own audience, a refreshing change from the routine and general indifference we often see from those we look up to.

Otherwise, Pascal is incredibly charming, from drinking iced coffee in the midst of winter to confessing about looking himself up online to see “thirst-trap” edits of himself, which is something that thousands of fans are enamored by (including myself). One look at the comment section of a post about Pascal will reveal just how fans feel, including hundreds of comments along the lines of “he’s just like me” or even expressing the desire to be his “controversially young girlfriend”, which… admittedly, I can definitely get behind.

So, now that you’ve met my internet husband, maybe he can be yours, too.
