6 of the Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Tallahassee

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Tallahassee is full of amazing places to eat and adventure. The endless amounts of coffee shops make this town perfect for a college campus. The only thing greater than enjoying our local gems is enjoying them with our pups. There are many parks and hiking trails across Tally, and we even have our own little puppy paradise on campus, Landis Green. But nobody likes to leave their dog at home when they go off to enjoy a meal, so I did some digging and found some of the best restaurants in town that are dog-friendly. Some even have treats for your furry friend! Here are my favorites:

1. Merv’s

Merv’s Melt Shop is home to Tallahassee’s BEST sandwiches. Their menu has a variety of melts, and I promise you can’t go wrong. They have a huge outside sitting area perfect for you and your dog to relax. They even have water bowls ready for your pup! Snag a pic of your pup enjoying their Merv’s experience and you might even get featured on their Instagram.

2. Wells Brothers

Wells Brothers Bar and Grill is my go-to for game day eats. Known for their amazing burgers, a visit here is never a bad idea. They have TVs on every wall that broadcast FSU games, and they have the best vibe for catching up with friends. They also have a backyard filled with bright red picnic tables and string lights. This is truly the perfect place to enjoy the summer breeze with your pup.

3. Canopy Road Café

More coffee, please! In the mood for breakfast? Canopy Road Café has four convenient locations in Tally. They have a variety of dishes including Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pancakes and Cap’n Crunch French Toast. Their outdoor patio calls for a chill morning with a coffee and your pup. Check out the rest of their menu here.

4. Sweet Pea Café

Calling all my vegans! If you’re looking for vegan treats in Tallahassee, Sweet Pea Café has an almost 5-star rating on Yelp. Customers recommend the shop for their cozy atmosphere, cheap pricing and creative cuisine. Their large outdoor seating options are great for chatting with friends and enjoying another amazing local hole-in-the-wall restaurant Tally has to offer.

5. Madison Social

We all know and love Madso already, but did you know they’re dog-friendly? On National Puppy Day they even served adorable pupcakes (pictured above) for FREE to all customers with a dog. They also recently had a dog wedding … which is random, but I’m definitely not complaining. If your puppers are looking to get hitched, maybe you should give them a call?

I mean c’ mon guys … is this not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? My congratulations go out to the beautiful couple.

6. Bruster’s

I saved my favorite place for last. Number six on my list is Bruster’s. Not only does this place have the greatest homemade ice cream ever, but they have an adorable special treat for your pup. Order a doggie sundae on your next visit and make your dog’s day. It’s completely free and watching them devour their sundae is priceless. I mean look at that fella’s face!
