4 Galentine’s Day Ideas You Can’t Pass Up

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Picture this: you’re with your closest girlfriends, you’re celebrating friendship, you’re drinking wine and you’re thanking the universe for the amazing BFFs you have in your life. It’s not Christmas, Florida State didn’t just win a football game, and it’s not your birthday…. it’s February 13th! Galentine’s Day (also known as the better Valentine’s Day) is a time for you and your girls to take the time to celebrate the love and appreciation you have for each other and we have the best ideas for what you should do this Galentine’s Day that’s sure to make Leslie Knope proud.

Galentine’s Brunch at Madison Social

For those collegiates who are 21 and up, this one’s for you: Tallahassee’s beloved restaurant and bar, Madison Social, is serving brunch from 11 am to 4 pm, and for every mimosa pitcher ordered, you’ll get two “Ladies Celebrating Ladies” wine glasses. You can even keep the Leslie Knope-inspired day going and attend Madison Social’s Parks and Rec trivia that evening—registration begins at 6:30.

Cooki(e)ng Party

If you love sweets, chocolate and your BFF’s, this idea is a no-brainer. Get in your pajamas, play some Britney Spears and spend the night baking chocolate chip cookie dough sandwich cookies, chai tea cupcakes or peanut butter fudge with the help of these perfect girls’ night dessert recipes. If you and your girls are more into food than sweets, then these party snack recipes are definitely for you. Or, if you’re feeling really adventurous, do both!

Road Trip

Speaking of adventure, Tallahassee isn’t far from some of the southeast’s most amazing sights. If you and your friends are more into experiences, road trips and new thrills then you should spend Galentine’s day hiking at Providence Canyon State Park in Georgia or exploring the Florida Cavern’s State Park just an hour west of Tallahassee. If you’d rather stay local, the Tallahassee Museum offers Tree to Tree Zipline and Ropes courses. Whatever you pick, your Galentine’s Day will definitely be one to remember.

Movie Night

This idea can (and totally should!) be combined with the cooking party idea; what’s better than a Bachelor marathon and some baked goodies? Nothing. From a popcorn bar to the top 100 chick flicks of all time and adorable movie party invitations to different movie drinking games, Pinterest has millions of ideas that can be tailored to your ideal movie night fun.

Whatever you and your BFFs decide to do, we know it will be amazing, Instagram-worthy, and a tradition you will want to continue for years to come. It doesn’t matter if you’re the low-key type, the partying group, or the Snapchatting 24/7 squad—there’s a Galentine’s Day festivity that’s perfect for you. But no matter what, enjoy your girlfriends and the quality time you have together; and as for planning, don’t stress. Just think: what would Leslie Knope do?
