3 Things to Do Before You Graduate This Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Collegiettes, it’s that time of year. Some of you are graduating in less than a week and others are graduating this coming spring or summer. Congratulations! You’ve spent four or so years here at Florida State University studying your butts off to get those degrees, so now it’s time to take a break and accomplish three things before you leave the rest of us here in Tallahassee.

Senior Bar Crawl

Not quite a cemented tradition amongst students, but there has been talk about the legendary senior bar crawl. You might be asking yourself, “What the heck? Why does it sound like any old weekend going out with friends?” Because it has a title, that’s why! But in all seriousness, it is called the senior bar crawl because it is the night where you and all your senior friends that are graduating that semester have a blackout night barhopping. The rules are simple: you make a plan of all the bars you want to go to on a timed schedule. Or you can incorporate the spirited game of pub golf into your night. This involves almost the same rules. You have a list of bars you visit—the course— and you have a set number of how many drinks you get per bar—above, below or at par. The par number represents how many drinks or sips it takes to complete the drinks assigned. For example, Hole 5 (Potbelly’s), par 4 could equal one pint of beer (finished in four gulps). Either way you endure your bar crawl, it is a guaranteed fun time! Just make sure you drink water!

Party Crashing

You are at the brink of graduating and you have an established group of peers, what more could you want? Since you’re about to leave us all behind anyways, you should crash a party where you know no one, but pretend you do. Enjoy the festivities and leave the night when you make at least five new acquaintances. It never hurts to make new friends that could one day help you network. Plus, this gives you the opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and meet some relatively cool new people you never would have otherwise.

Visit a landmark that you’ve never been to

The panhandle area has so many cool places for students to visit. There is the Seacrest Wolf Preserve in Chipley, Florida where you can get up close and personal with wild wolves; you can even camp overnight! There is also the sinkholes in Tallahassee that are fun to visit, and if you’re brave enough, to swing from a rope into the water! You also have Wakulla Springs, the most beautiful park in all of Tallahassee. It has nature trails, a lake to swim in, and the famous boat tours where you can see alligators and manatees in their natural environments.

Collegiettes, college has been the time of your lives, and even though you are about to enter the world of responsibility and adulthood, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t end the year with a bang. Cheers to you!
