15 Struggles Only Short Girls Understand

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

For those of us 5’4” and under, life isn’t always peachy. Sometimes it seems like we’re living in a world designed by inconsiderate giants. While being a short girl is awesome, there are definitely some struggles along the way.

1. When fashion trends are seemingly designed to drown you in fabric:

Midi-skirts? Wide-legged pants? Seriously?

2. While we’re on that note, clothes that never fit right:

3. When people point out the fact that you’re short, as if you somehow didn’t know:

4. When you’re in a crowd and you can’t see anything or anyone:

No, it’s cool, I didn’t actually want to watch this concert, anyway. This view of the back of your head is fine.

5. When people think you’re younger than you actually are:

I’m an adult, g*ddamnit! I’m registered to vote!

6. When the thing you need is on the top shelf, and you can’t reach:

7. When people think it’s cute to use you as an armrest:

8. When you can’t quite reach the drive-thru window and have to stick your whole torso out of the window to get your food:

One order of chicken nuggets with a side of lost dignity, please.

9. When you don’t really want to wear heels, but you’ll look like a Hobbit if you don’t:

10. When you take a group photo and you’re literally always in the front:

11. When you can’t reach those loops on public transportation without standing on your tiptoes:

12. When you meet a really cute boy, but he’s too tall:

It’s like Romeo and Juliet, but worse.

13. When you sit in a regular chair and your feet don’t reach the ground:

14. When 12 year olds are taller than you:

15. When you have to doggie paddle in the pool/ocean/lake while everyone else can stand:
