Over the last few months, many prominent artists have been hinting at or announcing their upcoming albums that will be released later this year. The competition for the following awards season will be fierce, and I’m beyond excited. I honestly can’t remember the last time that all of my favorite artists seemed to be releasing music at once.

Whether these albums were announced through Instagram, a Super Bowl commercial, or at the Grammy Awards, these artists have ensured that this year will be iconic for music. They have established their presence, and I’m loving it. Let’s go through some of my most anticipated albums of 2024.

Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande: March 8

I was ecstatic when Grande released her first single, “yes, and?” from the album earlier this year. After all, the last time she put out an album was 2020. Based on this single, she’s going for a slightly different vibe (musically and aesthetically) than some of her previous albums. I cannot wait to listen to this one.

Act II by Beyoncé: March 29

Beyoncé dropped Renaissance on July 29, 2022. Not only did Beyoncé win four Grammys with this album, but those wins resulted in her becoming the artist with the most Grammy wins of all time (32, to be exact). Though Act II will be a country album, which is different from most of her past work, I’m eager to hear it.

The tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift: April 19

As a Swiftie, when she announced this album, I was shocked. This wasn’t the record I expected this year, but I’m ready to listen it. From the Post Malone and Florence + The Machine features to song titles like “But Daddy I Love Him” and “I Can Fix Him (No I Really Can),” this album seems like it’ll be pretty remarkable. Miss Swift does not disappoint.

Lasso by Lana Del Rey: TBA

Though Del Rey hasn’t yet announced when this album will be released, she has revealed the name and genre. Lasso will be country, like Beyoncé’s new album. Like Beyoncé, country is a different vibe for Lana, but I have a good feeling about it. Anything Del Rey puts out is beautiful, and I can’t wait to see how she amazes her fans with her newest music.

LANA by SZA: TBA

Though this hasn’t been explicitly announced and there’s no release date yet, SZA has uploaded a few of the album covers, captioned “LANA,” and released a new single. I’m already in love with her latest song, “Saturn.” I am beyond ready to hear SZA’s new album, mainly because her last album, SOS, was so successful. But all of SZA’s work has impressed me. Though I am not sure what the vibe of this album will be, I wouldn’t expect anything less than excellence from SZA.

Though I was not expecting so many big artists to release music like this in 2024, I’m more than content with what I’ve seen. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these major artists, and I know this will be such a good year for music.
