Junior Stacie Tanksley said she has been creating art for as long as she can remember.

Tanksley is a triple major in studio art design, studio art painting and art History. She is also involved in Pi Beta Phi, interfaith, and is a student ambassador.

Tanksley’s show is not a ‘student art show’ but it is a part of the Rinker Grant she applied for last April.

Miscarded is a show that Tanksley is currently working on and it will be shown at Franklin College from April 16 through April 20 in the JCFA atrium.

Tanksley explains the art show saying, “Miscarded will feature many pieces made with hard materials and will play off the concept that it is a ‘Mis’take to ‘Dis’card these treasures, or in other words I asked for people’s junk and then I make artworks out of them using elements of design and structure.”

The entire Miscarded show will feature only Tanksley’s work.

“I am excited because this is a completely new idea that Franklin College has not yet experienced,” Tanksley said. “I hope that people can understand that these items can be so beautiful if they just look and take the time to really see.”

The Rinker Grant made Tanksley’s work possible. It’s offered through Franklin College and she must show the work she made with the money.

“This show means so much,” Tanksley said. “It has given me the opportunity to work with different mediums and has helped me grow conceptually as an artist. I have found out a lot about myself through this work, about my strengths and weaknesses. I feel very confident in my own abilities in these works and I am excited for people to experience them.”

Tanksley has a website interested people can visit to view some of her work: Stacietanksley.weebly.com
