Why Friendsgiving is Better Than Thanksgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Framingham chapter.

For many people, especially college students, Thanksgiving can be a very stressful event with family asking questions like “How’s school going?” “How are your grades?” “How’s your dating life?” “What’s with the long face?” and so much more. And we all know that most of our family members are just asking because of obligation and to tease us.

For some students, they don’t have a family to go home to for Thanksgiving. That’s where Friendsgiving comes in for the rescue. It’s the time where you gather all your closest friends that are your chosen family basically, and you enjoy each other’s company over food and fun. You ask one another about how they’re actually doing and feeling. You care about each other without the feeling of obligation.

Overall, Friendsgiving is some peoples’ favorite holiday due to the lack of faking and forced family interactions. So, gather your favorite people that you know you enjoy one another’s company, make (or buy) some good food, and make sure to thank each other for all the love and care you put into one another.
