Review of Tove Lo’s New Album “Lady Wood”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Framingham chapter.

Around a year ago I had one of Tove Lo’s top hits stuck in my head and I stumbled upon her 2014 album Queen of the Clouds. What started as an interest in one song, turned into a low-key obsession with the album. I would sit in my room and listen to the album all the way through on repeat for months. I am very picky when it comes to music so for me to like an album this much is almost crazy. I couldn’t get enough and I learned to love Queen of the Clouds from start to end. When I recently heard her new release of her second album, I was instantly excited to hear her new songs. I fell in love with Cool Girl and I felt cool myself just listening to it even though I am aware that I am far from “cool”.  The album was released on October 28th, and I am already obsessed and have listened to every track on repeat. I have never written a review on music before but this was the perfect opportunity to share with others my love for an artist and their music. My personal favorite is Flashes, and will continue to be on repeat for the rest of my life.

Album rating: 10/10

Tove Lo is known for her writing skills in the music industry for writing songs for not only herself but many other artists. It is no surprise that she brought her “A game” in lyrics for this album. The instrumentals on this album were easily my favorite. There are so many jams that I can sit and listen to for hours. The vocals are a great balance with the instruments, showing her vocal power and abilities. If you are looking for something new to listen to, I highly recommend trying out this album, there is something for everyone. Lastly, the biggest aspect that I loved about this album and Tove Lo, was her ability to make songs entice your feelings. In every song, you can hear and feel the emotion she puts into her music. I haven’t been through the same experiences as the songs talk about but I feel as though I have and that is a huge deal in my opinion.
