The Process of Figuring Out Life After Graduation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Framingham chapter.

Come on seniors, none of us really know what we want to do or what will happen after graduation. Even though some of us may have more of an idea, than others, you have to admit we have all felt the pressures of the process of trying to figure out what we want to do after graduation:

1. Indecisive about our choices

What do I want to do? What kind of job do I want? This sounds cool, but so does this one. What job is best for me? Look, we aren’t meant to know what we want to do for the rest of our lives, no matter what people say. Graduation is just the beginning of our journeys to experience. If the first job you get out of college isn’t the job you wanted, it is totally okay. Anything you get is experience, if it is a bad experience at least you know then that it is a career you don’t want to pursue.

2. Stress

What if I don’t get a job? This job requires fives years of experience! And this job requires a Masters Degree! I’m never going to find a job! Stop, right there seniors! Relax, you will find something. Everything works out for those who try. Again, like I said before, you might not get your first choice right out of college, but it can work in the meantime as you work towards your dream job. Nothing it going to come easy, but it you show you are motivated and use that motivation towards making something of yourself you will surely find something!

3. Have doubts

Is this really what I want to do? I’m sure this is a thought a lot of us have often and that is okay. How are we to know exactly what we want without actually being in the action? It is okay to have doubts about what you want to do, it is very hard to know what you want to do when a lot of us haven’t even gotten experience in many areas.

4. CryIt is completely okay to cry, trust me the stress will get to you. Just let it out, but remember everything will work out!
